Tragedy struck last week when Jimmy crashed into the wedding marquee where Dawn was supposed to be tying the knot with Joe Tate (Ned Porteous). Jimmy found himself trapped in the car and sadly died before he could be rescued, and further tragedy struck when the marquee exploded with Joe still trapped inside. However, it was Dawn who ultimately became the second fatality when she died in hospital after giving birth to a son. Dawn dies unexpectedly in hospital (Picture: ITV) In an exclusive exit interview with Metro, actress Olivia Bromley revealed that it was the producers’ decision to kill Dawn off. ‘I’m not going to lie, I’d have preferred her to stay alive!’ She laughed while discussing her exit. ‘I was so excited to go out and do other things and spread my wings. As an actor, after eight years, it’s important to be able to embrace new challenges, I’ve felt. ‘But I wouldn’t have killed her off if it was my choice. However, she went on to explain how the decision had been somewhat of a blessing in disguise, as it allows her to ’embrace new challenges fully’ without the possibility of a return to the ITV soap hanging over her. Jimmy was trapped in his car after the crash (Picture: ITV) Similarly, it was the producers’ decision for Jimmy to be killed off, though Nick Miles revealed that he had started having nightmares about Jimmy’s death three months before he was told his fate. ‘Having said that, I didn’t really believe the dreams and when I was told, it was still a shock,’ he told Metro. ‘I was bowled over, I went very quiet and I was calm. They said “Nick, you can be upset. We expected you to be upset as it is a shock”. ‘I was thinking of those nightmares though! I was like, “Okay, that’s fine, I get it”. I was very philosophical. I think [the nightmares] helped!’ Speaking about his reaction to the news, he added: ‘I was really grateful. I’ve had a great innings. We all become actors knowing that any job we take is precarious. You can’t hate that when it happens.
