After Alan Carr somehow giggled, lied and murdered his way to victory last year, another 21 famous faces are about to enter Ardross Castle in the hope of winning up to £100,000 for charity. And according to exclusive odds provided to Metro by Ladbrokes, Michael Sheen is the celebrity most likely to emerge victorious. The Good Omens and Masters of Sex actor leads the pack at 5/1, closely followed by The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey at 6/1. Romesh Ranganathan is third favourite at 7/1, while comedians James Acaster, Joanne McNally and Rob Beckett are locked together at 8/1. Honestly, putting that many comedians in a castle and asking them to identify who is lying feels less like a television format and more like an elaborate HR experiment. Michael Sheen is at the top of the list of predicted winners (Picture: CREDIT LINE:BBC/Studio Lambert/Cody Burridge/BBC Creative) Alex Apati of Ladbrokes told Metro: ‘Alan Carr set the bar last year, and if Michael and/or Bella don the famous castle cloaks, the odds suggest they’ll take some stopping.’ The bookmakers aren’t just predicting which individual celebrity could triumph, either. They currently reckon the Traitors are more likely to win the series than the Faithful, pricing a Traitor victory at 4/6, compared with 5/4 for the Faithfuls. Considering what happened last year, perhaps the Faithful should begin preparing themselves emotionally now. Who is favourite to win Celebrity Traitors? The 57-year-old has spent decades convincingly pretending to be other people for a living, which feels like either excellent preparation for The Traitors or exactly the sort of qualification that gets you banished on night two. He may also have received some useful intelligence before entering the castle. Jonathan Ross, who became one of last year’s Traitors, previously told Metro he spoke to Sheen before filming. ‘I spoke to quite a few of them before they went in. I had a brief chat with Michael Sheen,’ he revealed. Jonathan also had a ‘longer chat’ with Romesh Ranganathan, Rob Beckett and Maya Jama – all of whom sit comfortably in the upper half of the bookmakers’ predictions. But there could be another threat lurking slightly further down the list. Defending champion Alan has already tipped Miranda Hart as his personal dark horse. Romesh Ranganathan is also expected to be a serious competitor (Picture: CREDIT LINE:BBC/Studio Lambert/Cody Burridge/BBC Creative) ‘Do you know what? I’m super excited about Miranda Hart because Miranda reminds me a bit of me, and if they make her a Traitor, that is gonna be TV gold,’ he told Metro at the National Television Awards. At 10/1, she currently shares seventh place in the betting with Maya and Ross Kemp. Alan also warned viewers to watch ‘motormouth’ Joanne McNally, predicting that the Irish comedian will be a ‘whirlwind’. Joanne is considerably higher in the betting at 8/1 – although she has already jokingly wondered whether she actually participated in the series at all after barely appearing in its promotional trailers. ‘I did do it, didn’t I?’ she joked on Instagram. ‘Imagine if I tried to text Maya Jama now and she’s like, “Who is this?” I was like, oh my god, I made the whole thing up in my head.’ At the other end of the bookmakers’ predictions, YouTuber King Kenny is currently the 25/1 outsider, while actors Myha’la and Sebastian Croft are both priced at 22/1. Jerry Hall sits just above them at 20/1. Only time will tell who Claudia chooses as Traitors (Picture: Ian West/PA Wire) Of course, trying to predict The Traitors before knowing who is actually a Traitor is a slightly questionable science. A contestant’s chances can change dramatically depending on whether Claudia hands them a cloak or forces them to spend the next few weeks analysing someone’s breathing patterns at breakfast. And if series one taught us anything, it is that appearing completely incapable of deception can occasionally be an extremely effective way of deceiving everyone. The Celebrity Traitors season two begins on Thursday, October 1 at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, with new episodes airing on Thursdays and Fridays. There are ten episodes this time around, meaning plenty of time for the favourites to fall, the outsiders to surprise us and an otherwise perfectly rational group of adults to decide somebody is a murderer because they buttered their toast suspiciously.
