Hospitals in Yemen’s Taiz governorate are struggling to treat patients as fuel, oxygen, medicines and medical supplies run critically low, the World Health Organization (WHO) said. The agency said 42 health facilities in Taiz city alone face acute shortages. Fuel shortages are also disrupting water pumping and sanitation, increasing the risk of cholera and other diseases among hundreds of thousands of displaced people. WHO called for the “immediate facilitation of safe, sustained and unhindered humanitarian access to Taiz, through all available routes, and urgent funding to replenish critical supplies and sustain essential health services”.
