Who Pays for ‘Love Is Blind’ Weddings? Let’s Break Down the Cost (and How Much $ Netflix Actually Drops)

It’s that time of the year again! After partaking in the world’s most bizarre version of speed dating possible, the couples of Love Is Blind are ready to get married on camera. The weddings are a chance for everyone to either say “I do” or “I don’t” in front of their friends, family, and thousands of strangers logged into their friend’s ex-boyfriend’s Netflix subscription, and you might be wondering who foots the bill.Thankfully, the show’s couples do not pay for their own wedding ceremony. Netflix takes care of the cost, and yep, there is a strict budget. The Couples Get a Say in DecorWedding planner Slomique Hawrylo told Tudum that she has couples fill out a questionnaire about their wedding theme (“traditional” or “boho” for example), their likes and dislikes, and a general vibe. “What I’m doing is looking at what they write on a piece of paper, and getting the feelings and emotions from that,” she explained. “It’s capturing their style, what they want, a certain color.”35 to 40 People Work on the WeddingsAnd considering there can be multiple a week depending on how many couples are getting married (or at least making it to their ceremony) per season, it’s a lot of work. The team is tasked with hiring local vendors, figuring out food, florals, the cake—the typical things that would go into planning any non-televised wedding (only on a way tighter time crunch). There’s a Tight BudgetThe show allots a pool of money to plan five weddings on the show, and it’s up to Slomique how that money is allotted. In season 4, Tudum reports that florals cost $50,000 to $60,000, while tents were $120,000.NetflixThey’re Allowed to Invite 80 to 100 PeopleAny more would stretch the budget too much! There Are Some Things the Show Won’t Pay ForIn some cases, the bride and groom will pay for extras that the show is unwilling to cover. Examples? Specific photographers that are outside the budget, specific nail artists, or details like monograms, which are “really, really difficult” for the team in the short time frame.Love Is Blind creator Chris Coelen told Newsweek, “If there’s anything over and above what we would normally do, then [the couples] are most certainly welcome to do that.”There was one “I do” on Love Is Blind season 11, and the show clearly went all out! Though...did the relationship last? Spoilers below:
