BAKE Off is back on the box next month with a famous new face joining the judging table. Channel 4 has released a first look pic of the terrific 2026 team – here’s everything you need to know. In a press release alongside the photo, the broadcaster said the image was captured on the first day of filming with the new crew – marking the start of a brand-new chapter for Bake Off. It continued: “Following January’s announcement that Nigella Lawson would join the show as judge, the Bake Off foursome have spent the hottest summer together in the tent, with a new intake of bakers rising to each of the challenges.” It added that the filming of the new series was already complete, with “thrills, spills and showstoppers in what promises to be a truly delicious series”. Nigella replied to an Instagram post sharing the snap saying: “I love being part of this gang!” While no date for exactly when the new series will start was revealed, the press release said it will air “on Channel 4 next month”. The cook and food writer replaces Dame Prue Leith, who announced on January 21 that she was stepping down after nine years. Nigella was confirmed five days later, saying she was “bubbling with excitement” but daunted at following Prue and Dame Mary Berry. At the time, she told ITV’s This Morning: “I am excited, but I take it very seriously. “The thing about Bake Off is that it’s about the programme – which is an institution of national treasure status – and it’s about the bakers, and I just want to be there and be a part of it.” Channel 4 says fans can expect her “trademark warmth, wit and passion for flavour”. He has judged every run since, surviving the move to Channel 4 in 2017, as well as the exits of two fellow judges and four presenters. The Hollywood handshake – his rare stamp of approval – remains one of the biggest prizes in the tent. Speaking at a Channel 4 press event, Paul said of his new judging partner Nigella: “She knows what she’s talking about. “Both Mary and Prue have amazing taste-buds and a huge depth of knowledge of what they’re talking about, and Nigella [is] exactly the same, comes from the same mould. “It comes down to bringing your knowledge and also your warmth – both Mary and Prue brought their warmth and I’m sure Nigella’s going to do exactly the same, to make the bakers feel at ease.” Alison Hammond Alison Hammond will be presenting her fourth series of Bake Off Credit: Getty Alison Hammond is one of the show’s two presenters and is back for a fourth series. The This Morning star joined in 2023, replacing Matt Lucas, having appeared on the celebrity version three years earlier. Talking about a photo of the new judging duo on Lorraine in May, Alison said: “Obviously we’ve started, so I’ve been watching. I’m telling you, the chemistry between [Nigella] and Paul is unbelievable.” She continued: “Look, you can feel it, can’t you? Don’t they look good-looking? Look at them.” She added: “Honestly, they’re so good together. Because, I’ll be honest with you, they don’t always agree, and it’s so good!” Alison first found fame on Big Brother in 2002 and went on to compete on Strictly Come Dancing in 2014. He has hosted alongside Sandi Toksvig, Matt Lucas and now Alison Hammond, and the forthcoming series will be his 10th. The Mighty Boosh comedian is known for his surreal humour and his eye-catching wardrobe. In 2023, he welcomed Alison to the tent by posting on Instagram: “Congratulations and Welcome to the tent lovely!! We are gonna have an absolute blast together. “I can’t wait. I’m buzzing.
