Whistleblower In Letitia James’ Office Says He Was Ordered To ‘Target Trump’

New York Attorney General Letitia James has run her office like a mob boss, using taxpayer money to fund political vendettas. The DEI Democrat campaigned for the office in 2018 on a platform of going after President Donald Trump. Now, a new bombshell email appears to show just how deep the corrupt attorney general’s office is willing to go to get their man and his allies. It’s exhibit A of why New Yorkers “should be embarrassed, disappointed, and disgusted by their chief law enforcement officer,” one government watchdog attorney tells The Federalist. ‘Target Trump Himself’ As the Albany Times Union first reported, New York Assistant Attorney General Daniel Wiesenfeld on Friday morning blasted out an email to his 2,000 colleagues about how he has been pressured to get Trump and his allies. Wiesenfeld, assigned to the agency’s Investor Protection Bureau, wrote in the email that his supervisor, Shamiso Maswoswe, had told him to “find and pursue crimes committed by specific individuals and organizations affiliated with Donald Trump.” He said he was to “target Trump himself, Truth Social, Hewlett Packard (DOJ approved merger) … without having a credible reason for targeting this organizations and individuals.” The prosecutor, who has worked in the AG’s office for seven years, was placed on administrative leave, according to the news outlet. His email was quickly deleted from the office’s servers and disappeared from the employees’ inboxes. Staff then received a follow-up email from one of James’ executive assistants asserting that Wiesenfeld’s damning email was an “internal” matter and that agency employees were not “in danger,” individuals familiar with the message told the Albany newspaper. “This is a personnel matter, and the employee in question has been placed on administrative leave with full pay,” a spokesperson for James told the publication. “The office of the attorney general is committed to upholding New York’s laws and protecting the rights and freedoms of all New Yorkers, regardless of political beliefs. We strongly reject any assertion to the contrary.” ‘To Tell the Truth’ The whistleblower made sure he spoke his peace before he blew up his bridge with the notorious New York Attorney General’s office. “The best part of having f–k you money is being able to tell the truth, without fear of consequences so here we go,” Wiesenfeld began in his email, according to a readout provided to The New York Post. Wiesenfeld has a different take on just how committed to “upholding New York’s laws” without political favor James’ office really is. “If you believe Trump is using (Department of Justice) attorneys to prosecute his enemies and further his political interests, you should find it equally troubling that Tish (James) is doing exactly the same thing,” Wiesenfeld wrote. “I ask that you not serve as Tish’s personal attorneys by targeting her political enemies. Instead, I hope you choose to prosecute crimes and find the individuals accountable, rather than targeting individuals and then finding crimes.” Wiesenfeld is no mere disgruntled employee. The prosecutor has been assigned to the Investor Protection Bureau for several years. He most recently helped lead one of the office’s most significant prosecutions, a lawsuit against Coinbase Financial Markets and Gemini Titan, accusing the digital asset players of illegally running gambling operations through prediction market platforms. The Albany Union reports that Wiesenfeld’s mention of the Hewlett-Packard merger is in reference to the opposition of James and several other Democrat attorneys general to HP’s $14 billion acquisition of IT provider Juniper Networks. ‘Political Theater’ Shamiso Maswoswe, the prosecutor’s boss, joined the AG’s office in 2019. She’s held a series of leadership roles in the Investor Protection Bureau. Perhaps she has an ax to grind. Before joining James’ team, Maswoswe worked at the Trump Department of Justice. In a discrimination lawsuit filed in 2021, Maswoswe, a black woman of “Zimbabwean descent,” alleged Justice officials wrongfully fired her for breastfeeding her child in the office and for taking the infant on work trips. “She also alleged the department retaliated against her for complaining that she was being discriminated against — treated differently than her male, and childless, colleagues — and because she was a breastfeeding mother,” Bloomberg Law News reported in 2023. The DOJ ended up paying a nearly $800,000 settlement in the case, while not admitting any wrongdoing. James’ office did not return The Federalist’s requests for comment Monday. In his email, Wiesenfeld wrote that New York’s politically-driven attorney general has used “significant public taxpayer dollars to target convenient public enemies” as she shrugs off “rampant non-profit homeless shelter fraud, Medicaid fraud, and crimes in and around synagogues.” “Tish is prioritizing political theater and getting re-elected in November over actually improving the quality of life of New Yorkers,” the prosecutor wrote, according to New York Post columnist Miranda Devine. “The double standards are staggering. It’s only surprising that more prosecutors haven’t quit,” Devine opined, noting James’ myriad failures in dealing with Medicaid fraud, antisemitism, and government corruption under her fellow Democrats. James has been true to her word in one regard: she has spent a good deal of her time and power going after Trump, bringing a bogus fraud case against the president, his sons and his company in 2023. She secured a conviction from media whore and Trump-hating Judge Arthur Engoron, but a New York appellate court tossed the politically vindictive half-billion-dollar penalty last year, ruling it was excessive. Kyle Brosnan, general counsel for the Oversight Project, said the whistleblower’s allegations should come as a surprise to no one. “New York Attorney General James ran for office on the promise that she would weaponize her office to unfairly target President Trump and his allies.
