See more Daily Mail on Google - save us as a Preferred Source Published: 19:36 EDT, 7 September 2026 | Updated: 19:45 EDT, 7 September 2026 The Home Office was ridiculed as it emerged that civil servants were being offered cut-price massages during work hours.Despite myriad crises exploding over the last few days, including a fresh surge in small boat crossings and masked protests in Dover, mandarins were on Monday informed of the latest offer from their in-house beauty parlour.A round robin from '2MS' beauticians, located in the Home Office basement, informed civil servants that they can now take advantage of five 30-minute massages for just £145 throughout September.The private 2MS Beauty Clinic, which is not accessible to the general public, first revealed last year, after operating in secret in the heart of Westminster for more than 15 years.It is open Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12pm to 7pm, meaning that its wide range of treatments, including Brazilian waxes and manicures, can only be enjoyed during working hours.The Daily Mail's revelation was met with disbelief from the Conservatives' shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp.He blasted: 'It is completely absurd that just a day after 625 migrants crossed the Channel illegally, Home Office Civil servants are being offered discounted massages during working hours.'This makes a mockery of the government's claims to be treating border security with the seriousness it warrants. The Home Office's private beauty clinic, 2MS, today sent out offers for discounted massages to be enjoyed during working hours throughout September by civil servants at the department The offer was circulated at 2pm on Monday, despite the department being rocked by multiple crises'Civil Servants should be at their desks making sure illegal migrants are being deported, not indulging when they're supposed to be on the clock.'Reform UK's Danny Kruger said: 'While 625 illegal migrants landed on our shores on Sunday, Home Office civil servants were busy cooking up new discounts for massages.'That is the purest possible snapshot of Whitehall's terminal lethargy.'The Taxpayers' Alliance think tank's William Yarwood added: 'Home Office officials should be tackling the department's mounting crises, not slipping off for discounted massages.'Promoting treatments during office hours makes a mockery of taxpayers funding their salaries.'Home Office bosses need to end this nonsense and get officials back to work and off the massage table.'A former department official quipped: 'Home Office civil servants have some nerve to be taking time off for massages and beauty treatments during the working day.'The department should stop rubbing voters up the wrong way and focus on their day jobs.'Opened in 2009, the 2MS Beauty Clinic offers mandarins luxury treatments at a cheaper rate than can be found in rival public outlets around Westminster.A 60-minute luxury manicure comes in at just £41.50, while an hour-long Swedish massage runs to £61.For civil servants feeling the stress, they can enjoy a 15-minute 'mini refresh facial' for £27, and a Lycon buttocks waxing can be enjoyed for £17.A Home Office spokesman told the Mail: 'The Home Office has nothing to do with the running or funding of this business, which has been part of the privately-run fitness facilities in the basement of the 2 Marsham Street complex for more than fifteen years.'If civil servants wish to pay to use its services, they are free to do so like anyone else, but must only do so in their own time and not during their normal working hours.
