Which chapter should you choose first in DMZ in Modern Warfare 4?

Published Oct 23, 2026, 9:49 AM EDT "Human Intel," "Counterfeit," or "Underground" Image: Infinity Ward/Activision Once you've completed the tutorial and the first page of orders, you'll be asked to choose one of three DMZ chapters in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The game tells you that the ones you don't choose will be available to you later on, so you're not locked out of them entirely, but it does mean you should prioritize the chapter that will offer you the best rewards. Here's a rundown of the three chapters and what they offer you, so you know which chapter to choose first in DMZ in Modern Warfare 4. Which DMZ chapter should you pick? Image: Infinity Ward/Activision via Polygon Each of the three chapters has two pages of orders associated with it, which consists of six missions entirely, each with a number of objectives. Here are the rewards each chapter offers upon completing the full chapter: Human Intel 40,000 cash 1 basic triage kit 1 flash grenade recipe 3 UAV fire supports 1 operator rescue beacon 1 weapon insurance contract Counterfeit 40,000 cash 1 recon drone recipe 1 explosives equipment kit 1 operator rescue beacon 1 weapon insurance contract Underground 40,000 cash 1 DDOS recipe 1 decoy grenade recipe 1 night vision goggles recipe 1 basic restock kit 1 operator rescue beacon 1 weapon insurance contract Essentially, you should choose the chapter that has the rewards you'll need the most. In terms of being able to craft the most things quicker at your 3D printer, "Underground" should be your pick since it offers three recipes, but if you're getting into lots of combat, consider "Human Intel" because the three UAVs will be a huge help. In terms of difficulty, since the three are considered to be starter chapters, none of them are particularly tough. "Human Intel" asks you to find lieutenant towers, compounds, and dynamic op phones; "Counterfeit" is about finding a police station, using a UAV tower, and using a recon drone; and "Underground" requires you to place a transmitter on two radio towers, commandeer a SAM site, and use a DDOS field upgrade. All of them also culminate in one of the three initial story missions: "Critical Extraction," "Silent Ledger," and "Shopping Hacks." If any of those sound more appealing to you than the others, you know which one to go for.
