However, Epona will run away if you get too close. If you talk to Malon, she'll tell you that Epona is a little shy around strangers, but she likes music. Take out your ocarina, and Malon will teach you Epona's Song (X - Y - A - X - Y - A). Play it, and Epona will come running over. However, as Epona is just a small horse and Link is but a child, you won't be able to ride Epona right away. Image: Nintendo EPD/Nintendo via Polygon Once you have all the Spiritual Stones and can travel into the future, return to Lon Lon Ranch, which has been taken over by Ingo and is now named Ingo Ranch, during the daytime. You'll find Ingo by the field, and he'll make you pay 20 rupees to ride a horse. Once inside, play Epona's Song, and she'll come running over. Ride her over to Ingo, and he'll challenge you to a race. Image: Nintendo EPD/Nintendo via Polygon The easiest way to beat him is to impede his path early on into the race. Press A a few times after the race starts, and stick to the inside of the track. Then, periodically press A to keep your speed up until you finish the race. Ingo will challenge you to another race, but this time he'll be a bit faster. Use the same strategy to beat him again. Image: Nintendo EPD/Nintendo via Polygon As the sore loser he is, Ingo will lock you into the ranch. Circle around and jump over the gate to escape, and Epona will be yours! From here on out, you can call Epona using Epona's Song, and she'll appear by your side. However, you can really only ride her around Hyrule Field and a small area in Gerudo Fortress, but you still have a horse! The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is a little bit different than the original game, so if you need guides to help you through, we don’t blame you. We have walkthroughs for all the dungeons, from the Deku Tree to Ganondorf's Castle. We also have guides for the sillier, in-between parts of the game, like when you have to find Richard (the dog) or Cuccos. For those going for 100% completion, we also have guides on where to find every Piece of Heart, every Gold Skulltula token, and where to plant every Magic Bean.
