More importantly, he's still waiting for a new Ape Escape game to release. It's a harsh world in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Between the vampires, monsters, bandits, and overly murderous soldiers, it seems like everything is out to kill you. Because of this, you'll want as much of an advantage as possible to ensure you can actually deal with these constant threats to your unlife. Thankfully, there are a few early-game weapons you can acquire that are great for when you're just starting out and can easily carry you through some pretty tough fights. If you're looking to snag some solid swords early on, here is where to find some of the best early-game weapons in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Best Early Game Weapon Locations Polished Long Cleaver Location Our first weapon is one you can snag right after the Prologue when the main gate to your home village of Laslea Glen is cleared. Once that happens, follow the path in town east (shown above) until you reach a small house that is being raided by bandits. These enemies are not to be underestimated, as they do a decent amount of damage since you won't have leveled up much by now. There's also a mini-boss, which is just a bigger, slower bandit. Try to thin out the herd of weaker grunts first before focusing on their leader. His attacks are quite easy to parry; just keep an eye on the shield icon and block right before the strike connects. This will give you a nice opening to hit him a few times before you need to block again. Also, don't forget to make use of your Voracious Bite ability. This will let you both damage an enemy while healing a bit of health, which can be really crucial for some of these very early fights when you're weak. Regardless, once all the bandits are dead, head inside the house and collect the treasure map on the table. Examining the treasure map will show you that you should follow the path east and then south of the Outlaw's Gorge shrine; you will find the buried treasure (location shown above). Unfortunately, this chest is also guarded, but this time by a large bear. Thankfully, the bear is also fairly easy to deal with, so long as you don't get caught by its frontal unblockable attack. This move deals a comical amount of damage and has a good chance of killing you if your health is around half. Instead, play defensively and use your Shadowstep ability to warp behind the bear during this move. Doing so will give you several seconds of free damage before the beast reorients itself back to facing you. Once the bear is dead, look for the mound of dirt right by the bear's cave and pick up the shovel next to it. Digging up this treasure chest will take a single segment of time, and you'll be rewarded with the Polished Long Cleaver, 100 Denarius, Gold Earrings, and Recipe for Minor Fortitude Paste. This is a longsword that does 115 damage, making it one of the strongest early-game weapons that you can use until you hit around Level 12–13. Durandal Location While the Polished Long Cleaver is good, the legendary sword Durandal can carry you through a lot of the first dozen hours. The catch is, this weapon is guarded by a pretty dangerous boss, and you cannot even use it until you reach Level 11. With that in mind, I recommend attempting to get this weapon when you're at a minimum of Level 12. You'll also want to be in your vampire form, since this can do more damage and the Voracious Bite heal will be quite useful. To start, head west of Briar Slough until you reach the Coward's Path shrine (shown above). From here, make your way to the large gorge with the broken bridge going across. Instead of heading up to the bridge, go down into the gorge and approach the wolves in the red mist. These won't be like a lot of the earlier wolves you battled, as they hit quite strong and can easily kill you if you fail to block their attacks. After you've been fighting the wolves for about 30 seconds, the real boss will manifest in the middle of the gorge. This is a Vidmo known as Echo, which will arrive with two copies of itself. The main boss is colored bright red, while the weaker clones are colored grey. Notably, the remaining wolves and Vidmos do not get along and will start fighting one another. Because of this, you will want to leave the wolves and clones to battle one another while you focus on the main boss, Echo. Do not underestimate this enemy; Echo hits like a damn truck and can easily kill you if you're underleveled. Her main attacks consist of horizontal slashes with her claws and an overhead strike. All of these can be blocked and parried, so make sure to learn the timing because counterattacking will be your main way of fighting Echo. She is also easily stunned — especially if you're fighting her at night as a vampire. If you're fast enough, you can stun her out of any follow-up attacks she might swing; however, this usually doesn't last long. Instead, I recommend parrying and hitting her around 2–3 times before going back on the defensive. Echo also has an unblockable move where she lunges at you. This does a ton of damage, so make sure to always prioritize dodging it. Once Echo loses half her health, she will teleport a few meters away and begin siphoning your life to restore her own. The moment you see Echo teleport away, do not hesitate to rush straight at her. Hitting Echo once will stop her from channeling this attack, and if you're slow, she will outright kill you before you can stop her. After stopping Echo, she will resume her normal attack pattern. Keep playing defensively and use your Voracious Bite on any remaining wolves to heal yourself. When you eventually kill Echo, you'll have to deal with the remaining enemies. Thankfully, these are much weaker versions of Echo and won't perform the siphon move. Upon killing the last of the enemies in the forge, look for the remains of a destroyed cart. Approach the cart and loot it. Inside, you will find the Durandal sword. This weapon has 234 DPS, deals 11.2 percent extra damage against supernatural enemies, and significantly reduces your stamina cost for attacking. It's a superb weapon that you can easily use and upgrade throughout the entire game if you want. I strongly recommend grabbing the Durandal once you hit around Level 12. This will make the subsequent days much easier as you start to fight the tougher vampires in the court.
