Where To Find All Pieces Of Heart In The Ocarina Of Time Remake

The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time - All 36 Piece Of Heart Locations Published Nov 5, 2026, 12:05 AM EST Collin is a Guides Staff Writer at TheGamer who has been writing guides for nearly ten years. He is also a professional game/level designer. More importantly, he's still waiting for a new Ape Escape game to release. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake boasts quite a few collectibles to find throughout Hyrule. From Gold Skulltula to bag upgrades to three different elemental arrows, these can all help you make your life a little easier when facing off against the forces of Ganondorf. Perhaps the most important item to find is the 36 Pieces of Heart, which will raise Link's overall health, making him much harder to put down. However, many of these aren't easily found and will require a bit of legwork. Additionally, several of these will be in brand new locations, so even if you're an Ocarina of Time veteran, you won't always be able to rely on your past experiences. Here is where to find all the Pieces of Heart in the Ocarina of Time remake. All Heart Piece Locations Some quick information before we get to the actual locations. The first thing is this list will not cover the full Heart Containers you get after defeating every major boss. They are basically unmissable and act as rewards for finishing a dungeon. Additionally, this list will be in chronological order, meaning, this is the order you can unlock them as you play the game. Because of this, I recommend bookmarking this guide and using it as a reference for when you play. That way, as you progress through the story, you can grab every Piece of Heart available in that moment. Lon Lon Ranch — In The Tower Your first Piece of Heart can be found at Lon Lon Ranch in the middle of Hyrule Field. When you arrive at the ranch, head to the back right corner where the large, partially destroyed stone tower is. Inside, there will be several crates you need to move, so shift them around so the middle one and one on the left that are closest to the metal bars are pulled away. This lets you crawl into the hole and reach the Heart Piece on the other side of the tunnel. Kakariko Graveyard (Night) — Dampe's Graveyard Mini-Game In the graveyard at night, talk to Dampe while he is roaming around to play the Graveyard Tour game. For this, you will need to pay him 10 Rupees to dig out one of eleven possible spots around the graveyard. Unfortunately, the Piece of Heart is entirely randomized, so you cannot reliably always pick the same location. Thankfully, you can always save, pick a spot, and if it's not right, reload the save and try again. You're looking for a dig spot that is hardened, requiring you to pay Dampe a second time. Sadly, this also isn't always a guarantee, but it's what you're looking for. Kakariko Graveyard (Night) — Under The Tombstone Staying in the graveyard, you can find the next Heart Piece by moving the farthest tombstone on the right in the second row all the way back. This will reveal a hole you can jump down into where you'll find a big chest with a Heart Piece inside. Lost Woods — Skull Kids 1 You can get this Piece of Heart once you've obtained the Fairy Ocarina, but it's easier to just get it once you've been tasked with learning Saria's Song. Upon entering the Lost Woods via the Kokiri Forest entrance, hang a right to enter an area with a target hanging from a tree. Go down the ladder to the lower level and step onto the tree stump in front of the two Skull Kids. You will now need to complete three games of Simon Says, where you repeat on your ocarina what they play on their flutes. Lost Woods — Skull Kids 2 The next Piece of Heart in the Lost Woods can be obtained right after you get Saria's Song. Once you have learned this tune, from the Kokiri Forest entrance, go left through the large hole to the left to find a long Skull Kid sitting on a tree in front of an empty tree stump. Climb onto the tree stump, take out your Fairy Ocarina, and play Saria's Song. Goron City — In The Vase Your next Heart Piece can be acquired after you've received the Goron Bracelet from Darunia. Now that you can pick up Bomb Flowers, take out your Deku Stick and use it to light the torches around the massive vase at the bottom floor of the city. This will cause the vase to start spinning around on its platform. Now go to the next floor and grab the Bomb Flow in the back left corner by the mural of dancing Gorons (circled in the photo). Quickly run over to the edge and throw the Bomb Flower into the top of the vase. If you can get the Bomb Flower to explode while inside the vase, it will spit out a Piece of Heart. Death Mountain Crater — Near The Entrance Obtainable after you've beaten Dodongo's Cavern, this Piece of Heart is located at the very top of Death Mountain. Head up the mountain, and when you reach the massive opening, make sure you are at full health before heading inside. You'll have a very short time before you burn to death, so the moment you enter, sprint for the netting hanging over the edge of the cliffs on the left. Climb down the netting, and at the bottom will be the Heart Piece. This will fully restore your health, so quickly climb back up and run out! Death Mountain Crater — Business Scrub One of the easiest in the game to miss, this Piece of Heart can only be found as Young Link in Death Mountain Crater. From the entrance, head left and down to the lower level that's to the right of the bombable hole in the ground. There you will find a Business Scrub who attacks when you're near. Use a Deku Nut to stun him and then hit him once. He will apologize for being so aggressive and will sell you a Piece of Heart for 100 Rupees. Again, remember that this can only be done as Young Link, which means you'll be taking damage this whole time so move fast! Kakariko Village — Impa's House You can get the next Piece of Heart immediately after obtaining the one in Death Mountain Crater. Upon exiting the crater, talk to the large owl, Kaepora, and ask him to bring you to the base of the mountain. After a brief cutscene, he will drop you off on a roof in Kakoriko Village. Go to the back left corner of the roof and look down at the stables. There will be a Piece of Heart on the red roof you can jump to! Hyrule Castle Town — Bombchu Bowling Alley Now that we have Bombs, the Bombchu Bowling Alley has officially opened in Hyrule Castle Town. When you arrive in town, go to the square and enter the parlor on the left. Talk to the vendor to play the game, which requires you to destroy three yellow targets with the Bombchus you're supplied. There are three difficulty levels to this mini-game, and you'll need to beat all of them to unlock the Piece of Heart. This is pretty easy, as you don't have a time limit and will have way more bombs than you need. Don't be afraid to destroy the obstacles, as this will use a bomb, but it makes hitting any target behind it way easier! Hyrule Castle Town (Night) — Missing Dog You can get another Piece of Heart in town, but you can only do it at night. Once the sun is down, look for the larger woman crying by the town entrance. Speak to her to learn that her dog, Richard, has run off, and she wants you to find it. You'll notice there are a ton of stray dogs running around town, so this seems like a difficult task. Thankfully, we know that Richard is colored white, which heavily limits which dog he is. Go down the alley on the left and interact with the first white dog you find to make it follow you. Bring this back to the woman to learn if it's Richard or not. If it is, you'll get a Piece of Heart; if not, you'll need to go find a different white dog. This is very much trial and error, so it may take a few attempts until you bring over the correct dog. Gerudo Valley — Gerudo Valley Entrance With our business concluded in Castle Town, make your way to Gerudo Valley, which is to the west in Hyrule Fields. When you arrive, grab the Cucco then walk to the left of the suspension bridge. You will see a chest on a cliff across the gap below you. While holding the Cucco, jump off and use it to float across the ravine. Drop the chicken near the chest and open it to get a Piece of Heart! Gerudo Valley — Gerudo Valley Entrance Waterfall Staying in Gerudo Valley, take the Cucco and take it back to where the suspension bridge is. Jump off the cliff while holding the bird and float down towards the massive waterfall on the right. When you land in the water, climb onto the nearby path and then head towards the waterfall. You will find a series of stone stairs behind this waterfall that leads to a small opening where the Piece of Heart can be found. Lake Hylia — Fishing Pond For this Piece of Heart, you need to catch a fish that is 58cm or bigger at the Fishing Pond. Found on the west side of Lake Hylia. Talk to the owner of the Fishing Pond about renting a fishing rod, and then try to cast your lure near the center of the watering hole. You're specifically looking for a large green fish, as that's the one I caught that earned me the Piece of Heart. This may take a few attempts, but there's no time limit, and you can use the fishing rod as much as you want once it has been rented. Just keep aiming for the bigger, bright green fish, and you'll snag one that's the right size. Once you do, return to the vendor and give him your fish to earn your prize. Zora's River — Raised Platforms The first Piece of Heart in Zora's River can be found roughly halfway up the river. When you arrive, progress upstream until you can go behind the locked gate where the Magic Bean Salesman is sitting in front of you. Behind it will be a Cucco, so grab that and carry it up the river until you reach an area with two Blue Tektites. Throw the bird onto the path in front, kill the bugs, and then pick it back up. Now, don't go upstream anymore; instead use the Cucco to fly across the gap to the south. Release the bird, climb the vines, and then head to the small area you need to reach via a small jump to the south. There you'll find a hole; go into the hole, grab the Cucco, and return to the surface. Finally, use that Cucco to reach the Piece of Heart on the elevated rocky platform. Zora's River — End of the River The next Piece of Heart is close by and doesn't require nearly as much work. This time, take a Cucco all the way to the end of the river. On the north side, at the start of the river, you will see a small cliff where the Heart Piece resides. Use the Cucco to jump and cross the gap to obtain this upgrade. Zora Domain — Base of the Waterfall The only Piece of Heart in Zora Domain is obtained by lighting all the unlit torches in the area. You start at the top where King Zora is and will work your way down the stairs and under the waterfall where you practice diving and earn the Silver Scale item. Once all the torches are lit, a large chest will appear with the Heart Piece inside. Kakariko Graveyard — Magic Bean Flower This Piece of Heart can be found in the Kakariko Graveyard on the left. Assuming you planted a Magic Bean into the Bug Hole on the left, you can now find a large flower that Link can ride in the future. Step onto the flower, let it raise you up to the ruins and grab the Piece of Heart on the pedestal. Kakariko Village — Windmill After beating Dampe in a race and unlocking the Hookshot, follow the path up the ruined stairs. Use the Hookshot to cross the gap, which will spit you out in Kakariko Village's windmill. Now carefully walk onto the rotating platform and ride it over to the next Heart Piece. Kakariko Graveyard — Dampe's Race The next Piece of Heart can be acquired by completing Dampe's Race a second time and reaching the finish line in under a minute. This isn't as difficult as it sounds thanks to the new sprint button. The trick here is to never stop running, cut as many corners as you can, and do not get hit once by his fire. Getting struck by his flames can end your entire attempt, so always stick towards the walls, as Dampe rarely throws his flames right next to them. Also, you may run past a ReDead, but do not stop or even give it a chance to stun you! Beat Dampe in under a minute and the Piece of Heart is yours. Kakariko Village — Potion Shop Roof Now that we have the Hookshot, we can get onto the roof of the Potion Shop and talk to the man on it. Go up toward the gate to Death Mountain Trail and enter the Potion Shop on the right. Use the back door behind the counter to the left and then look to the other Potion Shop's roof on the right. Aim the Hookshot at the vines to pull you onto the roof. Talk to the man sitting there to earn a Heart Piece. Lake Hylia - Magic Bean Flower Back at Lake Hylia, if you planted a Magic Bean, you can step onto the large flower right next to the Lakeside Laboratory entrance. Ride the flower around Lake Hylia and jump off when it reaches the top of the Laboratory. Climb up the tower to find a Piece of Heart at the top. Lake Hylia — Lakeside Laboratory Interior To get this Piece of Heart you will need to get the Golden Scale. This is done by first beating the fish record as Young Link to earn a Piece of Heart and then doing it a second time as Adult Link. Remember, to reach the Fishing Pond in the future, you need to ride the Magic Bean Flower and jump off when it passes by. Once you have the Golden Scale, go into the laboratory, jump into the dive tank, and swim all the way to the bottom. Touch the floor underwater, then return to the surface. The Lake Scientist will be impressed with your skills and give you a Piece of Heart. Kakariko Village — Skulltula House Your next Gold Skulltula is located in the Skulltula House. Once you've collected 50 Gold Skulltulas, you can visit this location in Kakariko Village and talk to them to earn a Piece of Heart. This only works if you get 50 Gold Skultulas, so make sure to use our guide if you are missing some! Zora River — Five Frogs 1 Go back in the past once you learn the Song of Storms and at least five other songs. Once you have enough tunes, go to Zora River and look for the five colored frogs along the northern wall about halfway through this area. Play five different songs, not including the Song of Storms, to cause them all to grow. After making them grow, play the Song of Storms to cause it to rain earning you a Piece of Heart. Zora River — Five Frogs 2 Stay at the frogs and listen as they offer to play a mini-game with you. You will need to play specific notes on your ocarina to make the frog with the spotlight on them jump up to catch the butterfly above them. Every frog has a corresponding button on your controller. Light Blue is L, Yellow is R, Dark Blue is Y, Grey is X, and Red is A. Complete the full mini-game with no mistakes to earn a Piece of Heart. Death Mountain Pass — Magic Bean Flower If you planted a Magic Bean in the soft soil spot right outside of Dodongo's Cavern, you will find a Magic Bean Flower. Step onto the flower to ride it up to the opening in the mountain directly above the dungeon entrance. There you will find your next Piece of Heart. Death Mountain Crater — Magic Bean Flower For this Piece of Heart, progress through the story until you learn the Bolero of Fire from Shiek. Once this happens, warp back to the Temple of Time and swap to young Link. Now, get a Magic Bean and a bug in a bottle. Play the Bolero of Fire and teleport there as a kid. You won't have much time, so quickly look for the bug hole right by the warp point. Use the bug to coax out a Gold Skulltula, kill it, then plant a Magic Bean in the soil. Teleport back to the Temple of Time, switch to adult Link, then finally return to the Fire Temple entrance. Step on the Magic Bean Flower and ride it to the next Piece of Heart. Hyrule Field — Outside Gerudo Valley This one is a little weird to get. First go towards Gerudo Valley in the west and head underneath the large stone arch on the right. Underneath, you will find an open chest, along with a Fairy Note on the wall. Read the note to learn that they unlocked the chest, but someone stole the Piece of Heart. Now, return to the past and visit this exact same spot as young Link. This time, you will find the chest unlocked, but still closed. Open the chest to get your Heart Piece. Hyrule Field — Outside Hyrule Castle Town I'm putting this here solely because my dumbass missed it and only discovered it a bit later. There's a chance you can absolutely get this as early as gaining the ability to go back and forth between time. To the right of the drawbridge outside of Hyrule Castle Town, along the stone wall, you will find a bombable patch of land. Going down the hole, you'll find a Business Scrub who will only sell items if you know the password. Go back up and look for a tree nearby that has a Fairy Thought carved into it. Reading it you will learn that the password is "Sell somethin', will ya?" Unfortunately, the future Business Scrub has already sold his Piece of Heart. Go back in time and return to this Business Scrub as young Link. Talk to him again and give the vendor the right password. You can now buy the Piece of Heart for 100 Rupees. Zora Fountain — On The Water When you arrive at Zora Fountain as adult Link, you will find that Lord Jabu-Jabu is gone and there is ice everywhere. In the northeast corner of this area there will be several icy platforms that you can jump across to reach a Piece of Heart at the end. Just be careful, as there are Octoroks ready to attack along the path. Take your time crossing, and you'll easily snag this Heart Piece. Zora Fountain — Bottom Of The Fountain After completing the Ice Cavern, take some Blue Fire to King Zora to thaw him out of the ice. He will give you the Zora Tunic, allowing you to breathe underwater. Return to Zora Fountain and use the Iron Boots in combination with your new threads to sink to the bottom where the Piece of Heart is surrounded by a ring of Rupees. Hyrule Castle Town — Treasure Chest Mini-Game Once you unlock the Leneses of Truth, return to Hyrule Castle Town and head to the east. Look for the shop with the giant treasure chest above the door. Go inside and agree to play the mini-game. In each room, there will be two treasure chests, one of which has a Small Key inside. Use the Leneses to figure out which chest has the key, allowing you to progress to the next room. Do this five times, and the Piece of Heart is yours. Gerudo Fortress — On Top Of The Fortress The next Piece of Heart is located at Gerudo Fortress. After you've gained the Gerudo Pass and can freely explore the fortress, make your way to the back rooftops. Go east along the roof until you reach a gap that's too large to jump. Play the Scarecrow Song to summon him across the gap, and then use the Longshot to pull yourself across. Inside the chest will be a Piece of Heart. Gerudo Fortress — Horse Archery Range It's time to put those archery skills to the ultimate test. For this Piece of Heart, after you earned the Gerudo Pass, go to the southeastern corner of Gerudo Fortress. Summon Epona and talk to the woman under the awning. She will explain that they have a mini-game to see how many points you can earn. Your goal is to get 1,000 points in a single run. The simpletest way to do this is to hit 10 bullseyes (red circles), as these reward 100 points each. Once you get over 1,000 points, you'll get this Piece of Heart. Evil Desert Colossus — Magic Bean Flower Our last Piece of Heart can be found in the Evil Desert Colossus. After you learn the Requiem of Spirit from Sheik, return to the Temple of Time and become Young Link. Then play the song to return to the Spirit Temple exterior. Right outside the door to the left, will be a bug hole you can plant a Magic Bean into. Once you do, come back to this location as Adult Link and ride the Magic Bean Flower through the area until it stops right in front of a Piece of Heart.
