Where is Ohio State football on Stephen Means’ 2026 AP Top 25 ballot after Week 1

Ohio State331/33Ohio State Buckeyes vs Ball State CardinalsBy Stephen Means, cleveland.comCOLUMBUS, Ohio -- My ballot got some major shake-ups after the first weekend of college football because now we have tangible things to go off of.As a result, I have a new No. 1 with LSU taking over the top spot from Oregon after thrashing Clemson in primetime. The Tigers looked the part of a legitimate title contender in Lane Kiffin’s debut.Another significant riser for me was Ole Miss, who now has the best resume win, beating Louisville, who more than proved it belonged, on a neutral-site field.Ohio State is the best of the rest for me. Oregon didn’t look as impressive as one may have hoped it would be in its win over Boise State. Notre Dame won in Notre Dame fashion, but I don’t think anyone walked away from that win over Wisconsin thinking the Fighting Irish are a team to fear. Just one with an ideal path to the College Football Playoff. Meanwhile the Buckeyes, and even Miam dominated opponents they should’ve dominated while showing off just how explosive both teams can be.The most notable movement in my ballot is removing Michigan. Western Michigan outplayed the Wolverines for 59 minutes and 59 seconds. They were given a second chance to win a game that anyone watching on television felt they’d already lost and got a chance to leave 1-0. But it was underwhelming to the highest degree.
