When does the summer transfer window 2026 close?

ONCE again this summer we have seen Premier League clubs splashing the cash across Europe, but they don’t have long left to finalise new signings. As we approach the end of August, football clubs around the continent scramble to get last minute deals done for the new season. When does the transfer window close? This year, the summer transfer window closes on Tuesday, September 1 at 11pm BST for Premier League and EFL clubs. After opening on June 15, Fifa rules state that the window cannot be open for more than 16 weeks at a time. Despite the window closing at 11pm, deals can still be completed after the deadline if clubs have submitted a deal sheet ahead of the deadline. Last year, the window closed at 7pm in the UK, but it has now returned to the usual spot of 11pm. Most read in Sport However, the rest of Europe do not follow the same rules. Italy and Spain’s windows close on the same day, but at an earlier time of 7pm BST – France and Germany shut a day earlier at the same time. Meanwhile, teams over in the MLS have until Wednesday, September 2 to complete their business. And Scottish clubs including Celtic and Rangers have until 5pm on Thursday, September 3 to finalise any deals, which is the same as the Women’s Super League. Comment now
