What's On The USB Drive In Reacher Season 4

In his pursuit to learn the truth about the events that led to her death, Alan Ritchson's Jack Reacher discovers that her fate was tied to a USB drive. He notices that many players involved in the overarching conspiracy are deadset on finding a mysterious USB drive that she possessed. Reacher's new female ally, Tamara, breaks into the State Department facility where Anna used to digitize decade-old paper documents and destroy the originals. When she finds Anna's computer in the facility, she notices she had last scanned a very specific set of documents and downloaded them to a USB drive before completely deleting them both physically and digitally. After initially struggling to figure out where she sent the USB drive before her death, Reacher and his crew eventually deduce that she mailed it to herself. In Reacher season 4's episode 5, Jack Reacher and his team finally get their hands on the USB drive and find out what it contains. To their surprise, even after finding the USB drive, they struggle to understand why so many factions are behind it. The USB Drive Contains An Old Photograph The USB drive only contains one photograph. After a close look at the picture, Reacher recognizes all three people in the picture: Sampson, General Putra, and Cahill. Reacher understands that a picture of Sampson with General Putra is not exactly a good look for Congressman, given how Putra was previously established as a brutal dictator with a long history of atrocities in Indonesia. He still wonders, though, how a harmless picture of him merely standing with Putra would be enough to taint his image. Lila and Amisha Hoth have been established as Reacher season 4's main villains. Their true motives remain unknown, but their entire mission revolves around acquiring the drive. They kidnapped and killed Anna's son, Ben, and forced her to get them the picture on the USB drive. Given how the two women were willing to go so far to get their hands on the drive, the picture has to have more value. When Reacher calls Sampson and asks him about the picture, he almost seems unbothered by the fact that they have found the drive. He, too, seems to know that nothing in the picture alone can harm his reputation. The Congressman even defends himself by claiming that he had nothing to do with General Putra's crimes and atrocities. Even though Sampson claims to be innocent, Reacher notices one key detail in the picture and questions him about it. This detail could be the primary lead for all the answers in future episodes. What The Photo's Real Significance Could Be Jack Reacher notices a mysterious fourth man standing in the background in the picture. He even crops his image and sends it to Sampson, hoping that he will identify the man. Sampson reveals the man is certainly not from the Delta Force. He claims that he was probably a scientist doing malaria research, which makes sense since the man is in a lab coat in the photograph. Sampson also adds that he had nothing to do with the scientist's work in Indonesia. According to him, that was Cahill's responsibility. When Reacher confronts him and asks him what he was doing in the same room as the scientist, Sampson seemingly panics and hangs up the call. This suggests that Sampson, too, is hiding something. One possibility is that in the name of malaria research, Putra, Sampson, Cahill, and the scientist were running some kind of human experimentation program. They were probably conducting unethical experiments on human subjects. Lila and Amisha were likely two of the many people affected by the experiments. This would explain why the two women are determined to get their hands on the drive, expose the people involved in the project, and find vengeance in Reacher season 4.
