She has a particular fondness for Yakuza/Like a Dragon and Final Fantasy, especially Final Fantasy 14 (for which she used to run a weekly community column). Joining a Grand Company is one of the earliest things you'll do in Final Fantasy 14, and after a while, once you've purchased all the obvious rewards, you might be wondering what to spend your excess Grand Company Seals on. Depending on your circumstances and what you're aiming for in-game, whether it's looking to make gil or to get some extra buffs, there are a few solid options for what to invest your seals in. Let's break it all down. Most Useful Items If you're into minions, emotes, barding, and Orchestrion rolls, it's worth snapping these up from the vendor when you're able to. However, these are all items you'll only ever buy once. Below we have a breakdown of items you can purchase more than once. Ventures Item Seal Cost & Rank Required Notes Venture 200 (Private Third Class) Ventures are the best all-round purchase to buy with your Grand Company Seals, as they're used to send your retainers out on targeted ventures, which can earn you some reliable gil if you are targeting specific materials that sell well on your World. Crafting/Gathering Items Item Seal Cost & Rank Required Notes Company-issue Engineering Manual 1,440 (Private First Class) If you are currently leveling a Disciple of the Hand or Land, then purchasing Company-issue Engineering Manuals and Company-issue Survival Manuals that increase crafting or gathering experience by 150 percent for a limited time are a worthwhile investment. Company-issue Engineering Manual II 2,300 (Sergeant First Class) Company-issue Survival Manual 1,440 (Private First Class) Company-issue Survival Manual II 2,300 (Sergeant First Class) Cordial 500 (Chief Sergeant) Cordials restore 300 GP and are a great item to keep on hand when you're levelling a Gatherer role, as they are a handy convenience to quickly replenish your GP. These are only worth it if you are actively levelling a relevant class, don't bother with them otherwise. Relic Weapon Items Item Seal Cost & Rank Required # Required Notes Bombard Core 20,000 (Second Lieutenant) 4 A Realm Reborn Zodiac Relic Weapon Item Adamantite Francesca 5,000 (Second Lieutenant) 4 Heavensward Anima Relic Weapon Item Titanium Alloy Mirror 5,000 (Second Lieutenant) 4 Heavensward Anima Relic Weapon Item Dispelling Arrow 5,000 (Second Lieutenant) 4 Heavensward Anima Relic Weapon Item Kingcake 5,000 (Second Lieutenant) 4 Heavensward Anima Relic Weapon Item Pneumite 4,000 (Second Lieutenant) 15 Heavensward Anima Relic Weapon Item These purchases are only worthwhile when you’re actively completing the relevant relic weapon. Some Anima materials can also be obtained through crafting, the Market Board, or other currencies, so check your alternatives before spending your seals. How To Make Gil With Grand Company Seals Sadly, the days of buying Glamour Prisms and Coke are no longer viable methods of making gil as the prices are rarely worthwhile on Words now, so making gil with Grand Company Seals requires a little more work, or a lot more risk. Most Reliable Method The best way to earn gil with Grand Company Seals now is to invest in Ventures and send your retainers on expeditions and target whichever materials are currently selling well on your server (check recent sale history to decide which to go after). Ensure you send your retainers as frequently as you can for this to be the most efficient. Quick Exploration is less reliable because its rewards are random. However, retainers can bring back equipment that you can exchange through Expert Deliveries, helping you earn more Grand Company Seals when you're running low. High Risk, High Reward The biggest gil rewards are the highest risk because they cost a lot, with a very slim chance of a good payoff. You can purchase either of the following for 20,000 Grand Company Seals: Materiel Container 3.0: Contains a random mount or minion introduced in A Realm Reborn or Heavensward. Materiel Container 4.0: Contains a random mount or minion introduced in Stormblood. These cost a lot of seals, and you must be Captain Rank before you can even buy them. Most of the time, you'll get a lot of duds, but you might also get some real big hitters if you are lucky. Overall, the Materiel Container 4.0 is the better option of the two if you're rolling the dice for pure gil profit. If you are looking to complete your own personal minion or mount collection, this may change which you want to purchase. For the Materiel Container 3.0, the best reward is the Night Pegasus Whistle, which can earn between 12-14 million gil depending on your server, while the next most valuable reward is the Zu Horn, which goes for about 140-160k. Materiel Container 4.0 has much better rewards. The Copycat Bulb currently sells for 25-29 million gil, while the next bset reward is the Dodo Horn, which sells for 3-3.7 million. The next reward down is Conditional Virtue for about 600-700k, and the next one down is Eurekan Petrel Horn for 120-220k. Price ranges are accurate as of writing this article. We recommend checking your Market Board for current prices before investing in your purchase.
