Corsair Cove is a new city builder in which you take control of a massive island with a giant skeleton-shaped rock at its center. Your goal is to build up your own little haven for all types of scoundrels so you can rule the Caribbean. This is, obviously, easier said than done as you'll need to manage all types of resources, internal grievances, and outside threats seeking to overthrow your rule. One of the key ways to improve your island is to construct new structures to improve both your pirates' quality of life and the production of various resources. There are a ton of Principle Buildings, so it can be tricky to know which ones to snag first. Broken up across four different paths, here are the Principle Buildings I recommend prioritizing first once you get access to them. Starting with the Wealth path, these structures focus on managing both your resources and finances so you can be the richest island possible. While a lot of them revolve around either spending gold for buffs, others will improve the general conditions for your workers or improve your storage capabilities. The best Wealth Principle Buildings I recommend investing in are: Fancy Cabins Well Trading Post Golden Hall Starting out, the Fancy Cabin is always a solid pick up as it will give you 12 Housing spots for your Drifters, which makes it a superior option to the Bloody and Salty Cabins available in two of the other paths. The Fancy Cabin also doesn't take up a lot of space, allowing you to efficiently expand as you take in more Drifters. The Trading Post is another decent early unlock, as it allows you to sell your resources for money. This may sound counterintuitive, but it's pretty easy to obtain a ton of materials that you don't need, and having a place to convert them into gold is quite helpful. Plus, it will only sell what you physically stock in the Trading Post, so you only need to use it when you have a lot of materials and some downtime. As for the Well, it is one of the better mid-game buildings as it acts as a good safety net against diseases or other work-related issues. Reducing their impact by 25 percent allows your Drifters to get back to work. Finally, the Golden Hall is a comically strong late-game building since it outright removes the ability for resource nodes to fully deplete. This can remove a lot of your production woes, allowing you to freely build what you want without worrying about running out of materials. Best Notoriety Principle Buildings Notoriety is the weirdest of the paths, as it's not as clear what this one focuses on compared to the others. Largely revolving around chance, Drifters, and entertainment, there are a few solid buildings worth picking up if you plan to go down this path in any meaningful way. Zip Line Rising Sun Corsair Cuisine When it comes to transportation, the Zip Line is one of the best available — especially early on. While it's one way, the Zip Line allows you to rapidly transport materials or Drifters across the island. This is extra helpful as you start building more vertically, as you can use these to move items down to key places near the beach. Rising Sun is just good for having a way to swell your ranks with Drifters for money, while the Corsair Cuisine increases the production of your food-related structures by 30 percent. This is especially helpful as you increase the size of your island and Pirate Camps where space becomes limited. Best Empire Principle Buildings As for Empire, this path focuses on combat and defense. This includes everything from improving your overall defenses, upgrading where your weapons are made, and increasing critical resources such as Black Powder. Some of the best Principle Buildings in this path you should absolutely buy are: Elevator Spy Nest Military Fortress Similar to the Zip Line, the elevator is another great mobility option to quickly move resources throughout your island. This works best along steep, vertical cliffs since you can transport materials both up and down, making it way less limiting than the Zip Line. It's great for the tall mountains of the island, allowing you to construct efficient supply lines for your base. Another great addition is the Spy Nest, which will expand all of your Pirate Camps' building range. It's easy to get cluttered and manage multiple camps at once. This can cause supply issues, along with just being a headache once you get into the mid to late stages of the game. With the Spy Nest you can actually cut down on the sheer number of camps needed, creating a more cohesive and easily manageable island. Finally, we have the Military Fortress, which is basically a brick wall of a defense that makes it nearly impossible to assault wherever it's protecting. A terrific addition to any base, the Military Fortress is the ultimate defense against enemy ships and should always be built once you reach the later stages of a session. Best Seafaring Principle Buildings Finally, we have Seafaring, which revolves around exploring the ocean and managing your armada of ships. It's probably one of the most important paths, with some of the best Principle Buildings in the entire game. Shrine of the Sea Crow's Nest Shipwrights' Guildhall Great Lighthouse For our early game buildings, both the Shrine of the Sea and Crow's Nest are superb structures to invest in. The former improves a random stat for all your ships out at sea for 300 Gold, while the latter allows you to make 25 Gold per Crow's Nest whenever a ship enters an event. Now this might not seem like a lot at first, but once you start managing multiple boats at once, that passive income can quickly fill your coffers. Another must-have is the Shipwrights' Guildhall, as it reduces the construction and repair costs for your boats by half. That's so incredibly valuable in the long run, as it will save you time and materials, allowing you to use those resources to further improve your island. Last on your list is the Great Lighthouse, since it reduces all Pirate Upkeep costs by 50 percent. Again, this discount is exceptionally helpful for maintaining multiple vessels without them being a huge drain on your food and drink.
