WETHERSPOONS has revealed a brand new budget boozer – and it’s in the location where Prince William and Kate met. The pub is set to open in just a week’s time. Open to undergraduates and lecturers, as well as the wider public, the budget boozer will be placed in the heart of where the future king and queen first met. Sign up for the Money newsletter Thank you! Marking the start of the new academic year, the pub is set to open on September 4, and will feature the full Wetherspoons menu range. The new venue will also feature its own unique carpet inspired by the shield of the University of St. Andrews, which is studded with crescent moons. The president of student opportunities at the University of St. Andrews students’ association, Robert Moran, said the pub would bring “new opportunities, increased employment, and better value food and drink”. He added: “It supports our ambition to make this space a true hub of student life – relevant, vibrant, and shaped by the needs of today’s students.” The venue will be open from 8am until 3am on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and until 1am all other days of the week. John Hutson, Wetherspoon’s chief executive, added that the boozer would be “a great asset for the students’ social life”.
