ONE of the nation’s favourite beers has returned to Wetherspoons. Two years after it was slashed from the pub chain’s alcohol offerings, Britain’s favourite Spanish beer is back. With San Miguel back by popular demand, fans of the beverage even have a chance to get their hands on a pint for free. Punters can head to various Wetherspoons locations in London, Manchester and Birmingham this week for a freshly pulled pint of San Miguel for nothing. The promotion is taking place to celebrate the lager’s return, with The Sir Alexander Fleming Wetherspoons in London’s Paddington kicking it off on September 3. From 12pm, customers can nab a free, ice-cold San Miguel pint for nothing and the offer will run until the tap runs dry, on a first come, first served basis. The Figure of Eight Wetherspoons in Birmingham will take part on September 4 while those at the Paramount Wetherspoons in Manchester can get the freebie on September 5. ‘Spoons lovers will also be able to get their hands on limited-edition San Miguel towels to mark the occasion. Most read in Money And in the ultimate nod to British summer holiday style, Wetherspoons is hosting a “towel dash” that will ensure thirsty beer fans can secure their free pint. “The mission is simple: get there first, grab your towel and claim your spot with a refreshing San Miguel,” a Wetherspoons spokesperson said. Don’t worry if you miss out on a San Miguel towel, though. You can take your own along to claim your free beer. “Ed Hussey, senior brand manager at San Miguel UK, said: “When San Miguel left Wetherspoons, Britain made it pretty clear that they wanted us back. So, we wanted to make our return feel like something worth celebrating. The towel dash felt like the perfect way to do it. “It’s one of those brilliantly British holiday rituals that everyone knows — and we’re bringing it to the local, with a San Miguel in hand.
