West Virginia adding Utah running back NaQuari Rogers

West Virginia is adding an experienced piece to its backfield with former Utah running back NaQuari Rogers. On3’s Pete Nakos reported Wednesday night that Rogers is signing with WVU, according to his agent. The move comes after Rogers was granted a preliminary injunction earlier Wednesday that gives him a fifth year of eligibility. Rogers was among a group of former Class of 2022 players seeking an additional season of college eligibility under the new 5-for-5 framework. The 5-foot-10, 210-pound running back spent last season at Utah, where he appeared in all 13 games with three starts. Rogers rushed 98 times for 387 yards and a team-high 11 touchdowns. His 11 rushing scores tied for third in the Big 12. West Virginia has already seen Rogers firsthand. He carried 13 times for 61 yards when Utah visited Morgantown last September, matching his season high in rushing yards. Rogers scored at least one touchdown in eight games during his lone season with the Utes. The Virginia native began his college career at Campbell, where he rushed for 829 yards and 10 touchdowns over two seasons. He then transferred to New Mexico for the 2024 season and recorded 382 yards and five touchdowns before moving to Utah. Rogers has rushed for 1,598 yards during his college career. He initially declared for the 2026 NFL Draft following his season at Utah and went undrafted before the recent court ruling opened a door for him to return to college. Rogers gives WVU a veteran back with extensive college experience and a proven track record around the goal line. Rogers is expected to join the West Virginia team tomorrow.
