Despite the hate they recieve online, Jade says their relationship is strong (Picture: Jam Press/@littlepidge) ‘People think we don’t really love one another,’ says Jade Vow. ‘They don’t understand how a relationship could work like this.’ Content creator Jade, 27, and her partner Josh Vow, 40, who have been together for eight years, have been branded ‘disgusting’ online after sharing their open relationship. Jade sleeps with other men with Josh’s approval, who openly encourages the sexual kink. Meanwhile, while Jade would be happy for Josh to have sex with other people, he isn’t interested in doing so. And, despite the hate they receive online, Jade says their relationship is strong. Jade, who has 69.4k followers on Instagram, said: ‘People got really mad, the comments were insane, but I expected it — especially from people on Facebook. ‘They have strong opinions, but we stick to one rule, and that’s to not hurt anyone; otherwise, why do they care? They bring us a lot of views, so bring it on.’ Josh, a music producer, exclaimed, ‘Leave people to do what the f**k they like — the hate just doesn’t bother us.’ ‘Come and spend the night with us and see if you still feel the same.’ The pair’s dynamic started a year after dating, when Josh revealed he had a kink, where he wanted to be ‘cheated’ on. The couple moved to Cyprus together three years ago (Picture: Jam Press/@littlepidge) Josh, who calls himself the ‘ultimate feminist,’ in an interview with the Daily Mirror, revealed that he likes Jade, who is bisexual, to explore her sexuality independently, and would rather she picks who she sleeps with, rather than Josh having any idea about who the person is, or what he looks like. Though, they do sometimes pick out men together on dating apps, with Josh even befriending a couple of them. The couple, who moved from Taunton, Somerset, to Cyprus three years ago, say they’re constantly battling misconceptions. ‘The big [misconception] – that I just want to sleep with girls and this is my excuse to do so — people jump to a lot of conclusions,’ Josh reveals. ‘Nine times out of ten,’ the misconceptions are wrong, he claims. Adding, ‘I don’t really have an interest in sleeping with other girls. Jade sleeps with other men, while Josh is monogamous (Picture: Jam Press/@littlepidge) ‘I would, but I don’t; that’s not my thing – my main thing is seeing and hearing about Jade with guys. I like to see her express her sexuality. ‘I also have a lot of people saying that I’m gay — I’m not — and Jade is bisexual.’ Whilst the couple found a few supporters defending them in the comments, they admitted to being surprised at the lack of open-mindedness and understanding. Jade said: ‘I knew we were going to get hate, but I did think there would be a slightly larger percentage of people that would have the brains to think, “well they’re enjoying it, so who cares?” ‘I think people are bothered and threatened about what they don’t understand or what they wouldn’t be comfortable with personally.’ ‘We’re soulmates’ (Picture: Jam Press/@littlepidge) ‘I don’t understand why someone would spend £1000 on a Pokémon card — I wouldn’t do it — but it doesn’t make me angry,’ Josh added. Jade agreed. ‘Even in our open relationship world, I don’t understand how people are in fully open relationships where they go off and date other people and fall in love — that’s crazy to me. ‘I don’t understand it, but it doesn’t bother me.’ Jade can find men or women she finds attractive online or in real life and has to do safety checks. She can sleep with them without Josh, who doesn’t need to be there; he’s just happy hearing all about it afterwards. The open relationship is strictly sexual; there are emotional boundaries. Josh is happy with Jade enjoying a sex life with others, but if a partner makes her a meal or makes her laugh, he’d feel hurt. ‘We’re soulmates, but that brings in a different connection I’m not comfortable with.’ More sex & relationships from Metro Do you have a story you’d like to share?
