We’re Not Mad About the Confirmed ‘Furious’ Season 2

There’s nothing like thrills, chills, and serial kills to get people talking about a new show. This summer’s hit is undoubtedly Furious, a cat-and-mouse drama from New Girl creator Elizabeth Meriwether that stars Emmy Rossum and Lola Petticrew. The drama series is filled with suspense, but one thing we won’t be wondering about is whether or not it’s going to get canceled. Furious has been renewed for season 2 already. Here’s what we know now.Rossum plays Agent Alice Black, a new-ish recruit at the FBI who’s convinced a couple of recent murders are connected. She’s absolutely right, because they’re being committed by the same killer on a revenge streak: Catherine Grace, played by Petticrew. As the two get closer to each other, their stories and the seething anger that drives them start to feel kind of similar.So, Furious season 2 is actually happening?Deadline announced that the show has been renewed for a second season a week before the season 1 finale dropped on Hulu. It’s official!What will Furious season 2 be about?Well, that’s probably going to depend on how the first season ends. With so many volatile and indignant characters, I have a feeling we’re going to be stressed out. The fact that Hulu announced the season 2 renewal does indicate that there will be at least one cliffhanger leaving fans desperate to learn what happens next.Meriwether based the show on the 1987 film Black Widow. If you haven’t seen the thriller, which stars Debra Winger and Theresa Russell as Alexandra and Catharine—the characters who inspired Alice and Catherine on Furious—now might be a good time to check it out and see what she might draw on for season 2.When will we get Furious season 2 on Hulu?The early renewal is a very good sign, again, that Furious might return sooner rather than later. It’s possible that the writers have known about this longer than we have, and started work already. However, since this is a new show it’s kind of difficult to judge the timeline expectations. Dare we dream that it returns in 2027? The Testaments, another Hulu breakout hit this year, is filming its second season and expected next year. Hulu’s comedies like The Bear, Only Murders in the Building, and Char Powers have been consistently yearly. Fingers crossed that Furious can do it too.
