‘Weirdly accurate’ beer-flavoured crisps are returning to Aldi shelves this week

Aldi’s limited edition German Pilsner-flavoured crisps went down a storm back in 2024, prompting a return by popular demand the following year. Now, shoppers can get their hands on these ‘hoppy and savoury’ cult favourites once more, as they’re back on shelves for Oktoberfest 2026. From September 10, the booze-inspired Specially Selected Crinkle Crisps will be available at the budget supermarket, priced at £1.15 for a 150g bag. But as with all Aldi Specialbuys and theme week items, you’ll need to be quick; once they’re gone, they’re gone. And if the reaction is anything like last time, it’s likely they’ll be snapped up by fans as quick as you can say ‘prost’. The love extends to Metro too, with lifestyle editor Rachel Moss giving the product a 10 out of 10 and urging readers to ‘go and try them’. Aldi isn’t the only manufacturer getting creative with their crisps right now either. In August, Walkers launched two new takeaway-inspired flavours as part of its popular Do Us A Flavour campaign. According to the brand, Salt & Pepper Chicken combines garlic, spring onion, black pepper, and aromatic Chinese-inspired spices, while Grilled Cheese & Chilli Jam brings together the rich flavour of melted cheese, with a sweet and spicy chilli jam twist. However, only one of these will be sticking around, with Wayne Newton, senior marketing director of Walkers Snacks at PepsiCo, commenting: ‘We can’t wait to see which flavour captures Britons’ hearts and earns its place as the next permanent addition to the Walkers family.’ Do you have a story you’d like to share?
