Ween have announced Shinola, Vol. 2, a rarities and outtakes collection, more than two decades after the release of the first volume. A preview of the song “Kim Smoltz” was released with the announcement. Stream it below. Shinola, Vol. 2 will be released November 27th via Rhino Records as part of Record Store Day Black Friday. Two editions are planned. A 2xLP brown vinyl edition, limited to 9,200 pressings, will be available exclusively at select record stores, according to Record Store Day’s site, and a CD version will be available at retail outlets, the band said in an announcement. The 21-track selection of unreleased outtakes, fan favorites and rare B-sides spanning the band’s career was started by Dean Ween more than a decade ago, and includes the first official release of some longtime fan favorites like “Kim Smoltz,” “She Caught My Fancy,” “Weed Whore,” and “The Belvodine.” Shinola, Vol. 1 came out in 2005 and featured 12 tracks recorded from 1990 to 2003. The new rarities collection follows Ween announcing Boognish Provides, a boxset of live recordings from the tour supporting 1994’s Chocolate and Cheese available in a 14xCD edition and 2xLP edition of highlights. Boognish Provides is set to come out October 16th. Fans can pre-order both editions here. Ween stepped away from touring in 2024 while commemorating the 30th anniversary of Chocolate and Cheese, citing Michael “Dean Ween” Melchiondo’s mental health.
