‘Weeks, Not Months’: Ukraine’s FP-7 Ballistic Missile Could Soon Strike Russia

Ukraine could begin striking Russia with its new FP-7 tactical ballistic missiles within the coming weeks, Iryna Terekh, CEO of Fire Point, said on Thursday.Fire Point is one of the Ukrainian army’s largest contractors, producing, among other weapons, long-range FP-1 strike drones and FP-5 “Flamingo” cruise missiles, which have repeatedly struck military targets deep inside Russian territory.JOIN US ON TELEGRAMFollow our coverage of the war on the @Kyivpost_official.According to Terekh, the FP-7 can reach targets up to 200 kilometers (124 miles) away and carry a warhead weighing up to 150 kilograms (330 pounds).The missile has successfully completed two stages of testing and is now preparing for combat deployment.“We are talking about weeks, not months,” Terekh said during the MSPO 2026 defense exhibition in Poland, as cited by UNIAN.The FP-7 is a ground-launched system with a maximum projectile speed of 1,500 meters per second (4,921 feet per second). Fire Point founder and chief designer Denys Shtilerman has compared the missile to the US-made ATACMS system.In June, Shtilerman said the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) could begin launching the first strikes on Moscow with Ukrainian-made ballistic missiles as early as this autumn.He said the company was conducting the final testing phase for the new long-range missile and that, following the tests, “flights into Russian territory will begin.”“The military will determine the targets, but I think they will be significant ones right from the start,” h said.
