The hiatus continues for fans eagerly awaiting the return to Wednesday Addams' world. Netflix's smash hit series Wednesday finally came back for its sophomore season in 2025 following its sensational debut in 2022. Starring Jenna Ortega, the fantasy dark comedy series follows the titular daughter of the Addams Family during her high school years at the boarding school Nevermore. However, a returning cast member is unable to give us concrete information on when the third installment will arrive. On the We're Here to Help Podcast, Fred Armisen, when asked what he is currently filming, responded: "I'm shooting the third season of Wednesday [...] I'm not sure when it comes out." Armisen portrays iconic Addams Family member Uncle Fester in the first two seasons, popping up on occasion to serve as Wednesday's partner-in-crime. However, it is possible he will have a bigger role in the next installment. In Wednesday season 2's ending, Wednesday's best friend, werewolf Enid Sniclair (Emma Myers), is stuck in wolf form and has fled Nevermore, prompting Wednesday to call Fester for help. The season concludes with the two of them setting out on a road trip to find and save Enid, while Wednesday reflects on the secrets her parents, Gomez (Luis Guzmán) and Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones), have kept from her. Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, Isaac Ordonez, Billie Piper, and Joanna Lumley are also expected to reprise their roles in season 3, while Eva Green is stepping into the pivotal role of Wednesday's aunt, Ophelia Frump, with Winona Ryder, Chris Sarandon, Oscar Morgan, Kennedy Moyer, Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy, and James Lance also joining the cast. Ortega, clarifying the time jump we can expect in Wednesday season 3, teased some of the family drama that is coming up, as well as Wednesday's coming of age: "This season, especially because the kids are seniors in high school now, we're dealing with more confrontational feelings regarding family and what it means to be an adult and what you see for your life." Moreover, Wednesday season 3 seems to be shifting the show's genre into road trip mystery territory, at least before Wednesday returns to school, with a first-look image showing Orega as Wednesday visiting Paris. Previously, a genre change was a major part of the discourse surrounding the second season, as the show moved away from typical high school storylines to focus more on the horror elements. Regardless of any critiques, Wednesday season 2 was a major streaming hit — garnering 124 million views from July to December, making it the streamer's most-watched show in the second half of 2025 — and it is more than likely that a similar reception will be waiting when the series becomes a trilogy. All episodes of Wednesday are available to stream on Netflix.
