Delhi-NCR is bracing for a spell of widespread rain and thunderstorms on Tuesday as an active weather system over Uttar Pradesh moves towards the national capital region, bringing the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall across several parts. The thunderstorm activity currently over Uttar Pradesh is expected to move into Delhi-NCR over the next few hours, with rainfall intensifying from early afternoon and continuing through the evening.Ghaziabad is likely to be the first major area to be affected, with heavy to very heavy rain expected to begin around 11 am. The weather system is then likely to spread across Noida, Delhi and Faridabad, where moderate to heavy rainfall is expected from around 11:30 am onwards. Gurgaon is likely to see the rain intensify after noon, with moderate to heavy showers expected across parts of the city. The rain-bearing clouds are expected to remain active over the region through the evening, with rainfall continuing intermittently in different parts of Delhi-NCR until around 7-8 pm. The intensity and duration of the rainfall could lead to waterlogging on roads, particularly in low-lying areas and locations that are prone to drainage problems. Traffic disruptions and slower movement are also possible during periods of intense rainfall. The latest satellite imagery shows significant cloud activity spread across northern and central parts of India, with large cloud clusters visible over Uttar Pradesh and surrounding regions.Residents across Delhi-NCR are advised to plan their travel accordingly, particularly during the peak rainfall hours. Commuters should expect sudden changes in visibility and road conditions as thunderstorms move through the region. With the weather system remaining active for several hours, Delhi-NCR could see multiple rounds of rain rather than a single brief shower, making today another wet monsoon day for the capital region.- EndsPublished On: Aug 11, 2026 10:49 IST
