Published: 11:36 EDT, 27 October 2026 | Updated: 11:47 EDT, 27 October 2026 Kai Rooney's burgeoning reputation has been further enhanced with a brilliant four-goal display for Man United's youth team. Wayne Rooney's eldest son ran riot against Burnley Under-21s and showed he is a chip off the old block with some exceptional finishing. Footage of Kai's goals for Man United's youth side has emerged and impressed fans with their variety and execution in the 6-0 Premier League 2 victory. His opening goal came sharp instincts after Emmanuel Ziro crossed the ball to Jaume Camacho, who headed onto the post, with Rooney lashing home the rebound. Shortly into the second half he doubled his tally from the penalty spot after winning the spot kick himself. By the 63rd minute, Rooney had completed his impressive hat-trick with a header from a corner and shortly afterwards he tormented Burnley with a fourth. Kai Rooney bagged four goals for Manchester United's Under-21s against BurnleyIt was the pick of the bunch, shifting the ball onto his right foot before smashing powerfully home. Rooney has been playing on the right wing for much of the campaign so far and now has five goals and an assist in just three matches. While a career anywhere close to being as successful as his father seems fanciful, Kai has long been tipped to make it at the professional level. In March he signed with super agent Triple S Sports owned by Paul Stretford, Wayne Rooney's long-term football agent who signed the former Everton and United forward when he was 17.Despite performing well in United colours in the same shirt as his famous father once did, Kai has been keen to stress that he is intent on doing things his own way.'I'm trying to make a name for myself, not try and be my dad because I'm my own person,' Kai said back in August 2024.'I want to see how my career goes, obviously try to do the best I can and try to reach the biggest stages.'I'm just focusing on me and to try to not let any pressure get to me and just keep working on me day by day, month by month.'His parents, meanwhile, have been keen to stress that they are keeping the pressure off their young son.'He has great coaches at Manchester United, so I take a stand-off approach,' Wayne told the BBC last year.'I speak to him, but for me it’s all about his mentality and his mindset, to make sure he keeps enjoying it – that’s the main thing for me.'Meanwhile Coleen told The Times earlier this year: 'He’s lived it (being Wayne's son) from a young age. When we used to go to matches when he was younger, he’d get a lot of people coming up saying, "Oh, are you Wayne Rooney’s son?"'But he’s strong-minded, always has been. I’ve got no worries in the way he deals with it.'
