Wave goodbye to loud morning alarms – Lidl brings back sunrise clock that’s £30 cheaper than John Lewis’ version

THE sun has already started setting earlier, with shorter days and less daylight just weeks ahead of us. However, one little gadget could help getting up on those dark mornings easier – and it’s available at a bargain. The gadget works by simulating sunrise with a warm white light – around half-an-hour before the alarm sounds. As it brightens the room, the light – of which there are 10 brightness settings – slowly rouses you from deep sleep by suppressing melatonin (the sleep hormone) and gently triggering a rise in body temperature. When the alarm does eventually sound, you can select from one of seven options – perhaps opting for gentle rain sounds, ocean waves or birdsong. And if you’re not quite ready to wake up just yet, the clock comes equipped with a snooze feature to give you those extra few minutes of shut-eye. The gadget also comes with a mains adaptor and a backup set of batteries in case of power failure – so your alarm will never let you down. Retailing for £18.99, Lidl’s version has all of the features of a premium alarm without the premium price tag.
