FANS of The Great British Bake Off are counting down the hours until the show returns tonight, but it appears disaster is set to strike in the tent imminently. As new host Nigella Lawson waltzes in, much to the delight of the contestants, she tasks the budding bakers with a challenge to recreate one of her famous cakes. With tears filling her voice, Molly sounds devastated while others in the tent look her way to see what has happened. Explaining to Alison what had happened, Molly shares how she was “only using one oven glove” and thinks the cake tin “got caught on the oven shelf”. Only time will tell what Molly does from here, but even Alison couldn’t help but praise her for what would have been an immaculately baked cake. It will be the 17th series of the show to date, with Paul Hollywood and Nigella judging and Alison and Noel Fielding presenting. Most read in TV Nigella replaced Prue Leith on the programme after she announced her departure from the show earlier this year. She has since been focusing on her health.
