The acting attorney general is proceeding in the confirmation process after two Republican holdouts, Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX) and Thom Tillis (R-NC), reached a deal with the Department of Justice. Blanche’s nomination was at risk last week when President Donald Trump threatened to withdraw his pick if Cornyn and Tillis didn’t back the nominee for the full-time attorney general role. The DOJ’s controversial $1.8 billion “anti-weaponization” fund was the reason that Blanche’s nomination was in peril.The committee is scheduled to start voting at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
