(Reuters Photo)New Delhi,Oct 5, 2026 10:10 ISTA bizarre incident in the Canada Super60 franchise league went viral on Sunday. Fast bowler Ali Khan, playing in the semi-final of the tournament, bowled a bouncer against Masters' Kieron Pollard. The ball, dug a little too short by Khan, flew over the keeper's head and ended up landing beyond the boundary line, for a six.Just as the fans started celebrating the bizarre six, they came to realise that it was not a six at all.Pollard had not made any contact with the ball, which meant the runs could not be credited to him or recorded as a six. The umpires instead ruled the delivery a wide and added four runs for the ball reaching the boundary, giving Toronto Sixers a total of five runs from the delivery. HOW SHORT ARE THE BOUNDARIES?It was a bizarre sequence, but one that also highlighted just how short the boundaries are in the 10-over franchise league. Khan's bouncer was not hit by Pollard. It simply bounced short, cleared the wicketkeeper and had enough distance to travel all the way over the boundary rope.A delivery that would normally be expected to trouble the batter ended up producing a boundary without the batter even getting a touch on it. The unusual five-run play came during Toronto Sixers' semi-final against Mississauga Masters, with Pollard's team eventually completing a 9-run victory to book their place in the final.Toronto posted 130 runs from their 10 overs before restricting Masters to 121 for 7. Their bowlers kept the chase under control for most of the innings, with the majority conceding fewer than 12 runs an over.Mississauga needed 18 runs from the final over, but Abdul-Raheem Toppin conceded only eight and dismissed the dangerous Azam Khan to close out the match.Toronto had their place in the final secured. But it was Khan's bouncer, which appeared to have gone for a six before being officially scored as five, that provided the strangest moment of the semi-final.- Ends
