The prize draw hopes to help families save more on healthy food shops, with Lidl research revealing 86 per cent of parents feel pressure to provide healthy meals in the summer holidays. Alongside the competition, Lidl is also expanding its “Lidl Foodies” educational program during the summer holidays. Partnering with OnSide youth club, the grocer will offer Lidl Foodie Summer Clubs in five UK cities, all free of charge. Children in Bristol, Carlisle, Croydon, Manchester, and Wolverhampton will be able to take part in free healthy cooking sessions. Every young person who attends will also receive a free fruit or vegetable items, that can be redeemed through the Lidl Plus app. Director of corporate affairs at Lidl GB, Georgina Hall, said: “The holidays can put extra pressure on family budgets, with more meals to prepare and higher food bills to manage.
