Sign in to your TheGamer account It was rumored a few days ago that Wizards of the Coast might be planning reprints for its 2022 Warhammer 40k Magic: The Gathering Commander decks. Turns out those rumors were true, with Wizards officially confirming that the popular decks will return in limited quantities. Warhammer 40k Commander Decks Are Getting A Reprint Wizards of the Coast issued an official response to IGN following reports earlier this week claiming stores had been offered the opportunity to order new stock of the out-of-print Commander decks. “Yes, we can confirm that we did a small reprint of the Commander decks that will be available to distributors and stores soon,” Wizards confirmed, adding, “Fans and WPN retailers should check with their distributors for availability, as it may vary by region.” Although Warhammer 40k wasn’t the first IP outside of the MTG universe to cross that particular TCG boundary, it was the first to breach Secret Lair containment and get its own Commander decks. Four of them, all released in 2022. Initial reports noted that only three of those four decks were available to order via the rumored, now confirmed reprint. Wizards’ statement doesn’t mention this, which hopefully implies all four will be available again. Resale Prices Will Almost Certainly Plummet Since the decks have been out of print for a while, and until as recently as this week there was no reason to believe they would ever return, the resale prices of MTG’s Warhammer cards were through the roof. Now that we know for sure that more decks are coming, those prices will almost certainly start to dip. Although, as noted by Wizards in its statement, this will only be a small reprint, so getting your hands on them, while no longer almost impossible, might not be easy. Prices for the decks began to drop based on rumors alone, so even though supply will be limited, their resale value will likely drop through the floor at any moment. How much the reprinted Commander decks will cost, nor when exactly they’ll be available to buy, has been revealed at this stage. The rest of MTG's 2026 is already pretty stacked, so it feels likely the reprinted decks won’t be here until early 2027 at least. As for prices, the decks had an MSRP of $59.99 when first released in 2022. More recent Commander decks that pull from non-Magic IP have been more expensive, so there’s every chance the reprinted decks cost a little more than they did the first time around.
