Think of it as the political equivalent of asking, "Would you still love me if I were a worm?" Instead, the question is: "Would you stand beside me at a protest?"For a generation that increasingly sees politics as personal, showing up for the same cause can matter just as much as sharing the same taste in music or coffee.That is exactly what happened with Shubham Birla*. While he was busy with his demanding job, his girlfriend made time to be at the Jantar Mantar protest. After a few arguments, some persuasion and plenty of hearing her out, he eventually accompanied her to the protest site.For many who arrived alone, the Cockroach Janta Party protest has become an unlikely space to meet like-minded people - a reminder that protests have long served as places where communities are built around shared values."Two or three men approached me while I was at Jantar Mantar on Friday and struck up conversations about the protest. Maybe they were there alone, like I was, and were simply looking for company. I didn't find any of it creepy.
