Vue Cinemas CEO Joins Growing List of Theater Execs Supporting Paramount-Warner Merger

(Credit: Bryan Steffy/Getty Images for CinemaCon) Tim Richards, CEO and founder of the European theater chain Vue Cinemas, has joined a growing list of theater executives voicing supporting of a potential Paramount-Warner Bros. merger. “We welcome today’s decision from the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to approve Paramount Skydance’s proposed acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, following the European Commission’s approval in July,” Richards said in a Thursday statement. “It has been an incredibly challenging six years for our industry, from the pandemic through to the Hollywood strikes and this decision is an important step towards providing the final level of certainty for the sector.” This news comes one day after Regal Cinemas CEO Eduardo Acuna announced his own supporting of the pending merger.
