(Vasha Hunt | preps.al.com)Vasha HuntUMS-Wright’s Richard Scott was named the Coastal Player of the Week for Week 5.Scott caught TD passes of 21 and 57 yards in a 42-14 win over Houston Academy and also had a 7-yard rushing TD. He finished with six receptions for 131 yards and 11 rushes for 66 yards.He received 44 percent of the 6,877 fan votes. Theodore WR Demarcus “Duke” Beckham was second with 15 percent.On to Week 6.Coaches can submit statistics following their games on Friday night or nominate players before noon each Saturday.Nominations must come from a coach or official team statistician. They can be emailed to bthomas@al.com.Voting is open until Wednesday morning. The winner will be announced Thursday on social media and next Sunday in this space.Here are this week’s Cunningham Bounds nominees:Ryion Austin, LeFlore: Caught TD passes of 84 and 29 yards as LeFlore rolled past Class 6A Alma Bryant. Austin finished with 3 receptions for 131 yards.Jabarrius Garror, Vigor: The Texas commit sacked Alabama commit Kingston Preyear 2.5 times as the Wolves limited Benjamin Russell 25 yards rushing and didn’t allow the Wildcats to convert a third down.Jakari Harris, Saraland: In a 68-10 win at Pell City, Harris finished with 10 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss and 3 rushing TDs.Nygel Mitchell, St. Michael: The junior rushed for 240 yards on 34 carries in a win over Bayside Academy. He scored on runs of 17, 9, 62 and 7 yards. He also scored on a 2-point conversion and caught one pass for 18 yards.Seamus “Moose” Owens, Elberta: Owens rushed for 190 yards and 5 touchdowns on 34 carries in a win over Chickasaw. He completed his only pass for 60 yards.Curvin Noyd, Citronelle: Ran the opening kickoff back 91 yards for a TD in the Wildcats’ win over Monroe County.
