EXCLUSIVE: Voltage Pictures has taken global rights (sans Korea) to the Sarah Bolger starring psychological horror thriller Nervous, written and directed by Abner Pastoll (A Good Woman Is Hard to Find, Road Games). Sales are beginning on the title at AFM. The pic also stars Ko Asung (Snowpiercer, The Host) and Sungsoo Yune (Smugglers, Live Stream). Voltage Desperate to save their crumbling marriage, Sarah and her husband relocate to the Korean countryside, where they discover a mysterious vinyl record that plays only silence. After listening, she loses the ability to hear men’s voices, plunging her into paranoia and hallucinations. Increasingly isolated and drawn to an enigmatic female neighbor, Sarah struggles to distinguish reality from nightmare. Is she losing her mind, or is something far more sinister at work? The movie was shot in and around Seoul, South Korea with the project being a South Korean-UK o-production from Story Robot and February Films, in association with Superbe Films and MAP, and in association with Solaire Partners and Central Investment Partners. The film is produced by Junyoung Jang and Pastoll, who also directs from a screenplay co-written with Richard Hobley. EPs are Guillaume Benski, Youngmin Kim and Sangjin Lee. The original score is composed by Matthew Pusti. Watch on Deadline “Nervous represents the kind of bold, elevated horror that continues to resonate with global audiences,” said Alexandra Cocean, President International Sales and Distribution at Voltage Pictures. “Abner has crafted a provocative and deeply unsettling film that combines sophisticated psychological storytelling with striking visuals and an inventive use of sound. We are excited to screen the film to our buyers at AFM.” “Nervous began with a simple but very unsettling idea: what happens when you can no longer hear the person closest to you?” said Junyoung Jang. “We wanted to explore that through sound and silence, creating something intimate, disorientating and cinematic. We’re thrilled to be partnering with Voltage to bring the film to audiences around the world and, for a film about silence, we’re excited to make some noise!” Nervous reps a reunion between Pastoll and Bolger following their collaboration on A Good Woman Is Hard to Find, which earned Bolger the Best Actress award at Screamfest. Nervous made its world premiere FrightFest 2026 as the Opening Night Film. The film recently earned two honors at the 2026 Screamfest Horror Film Festival in Los Angeles, including Best Musical Score for composer Matthew Pusti and the inaugural ScareScore Biometric Best Picture Award. The movie is set to play MOTELX – Lisbon International Horror Film Festival, Fantasy Filmfest in Germany, Screamfest in Los Angeles, and the Festival International du Film de La Roche-sur-Yon in France, where it was selected for the Prix Variété competition. Additional selections include Belgium’s Razor Reel Flanders Film Festival, Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia, and Japan’s YAMI Tokyo Horror Film Festival.
