VMAs 2026: Kacey Musgraves Honors Dolly Parton With “I Will Always Love You”

Kacey Musgraves has been paying tribute to Dolly Parton a lot since the country music icon's passing a few weeks ago. Tonight, she did so onstage at the MTV Video Music Awards. After an intro featuring archival footage of Parton performing her classic ballad "I Will Always Love You" on TV, Musgraves grabbed the torch to sing the song herself. It was a dignified, highly emotional performance. Musgraves previously performed alongside Parton as part of a tribute at the 2019 Grammys, a couple nights after participating in the MusiCares tribute to Parton. That was the same night Musgraves won Album Of The Year.
