Vision’s MCU Future After VisionQuest Teased By Paul Bettany

Created by Terry Matalas, the upcoming Disney+ series marks Bettany's long-awaited return as Vision following the events of WandaVision. Vision became a crucial character in the MCU after his introduction in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), but it hasn't been clear whether the VisionQuest story will conclude the character's arc or not. In a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Bettany addresses Vision's post-VisionQuest future, revealing that the show actually lays some exciting groundwork for where the hero might go moving forward. After confirming that the upcoming series will pick up the story with White Vision, Bettany shares that the character will be left "looking for agency" by the end, calling the finale a "springboard" for future stories. Check out his comment below: “We start off the show where we left him as White Vision, who has been repurposed as a weapon. I think that where we get to at the end of this, he’s clearly escaped the confines of whoever repurposed him, and he is looking for agency. By the end of our show, I think you’ll see that it’s a really exciting springboard for what Vision might do in the future.” As revealed in the VisionQuest trailer, the series will essentially follow Bettany's character as he attempts to regain his memory and his humanity following the end of WandaVision. This quest will involve the return of James Spader as Ultron, this time in human form as he remains a prisoner in White Vision's mind. Ultron, it seems, could be crucial to Vision's development as a character, potentially helping to set up the "springboard" Bettany mentions. The actor has also already teased Vision's return in Avengers: Secret Wars, which is slated to release on December 17, 2027. In an interview with The Telegraph last December, Bettany said he has "some Avengers duties" in 2026. With Secret Wars' filming now reportedly underway, it seems quite likely that Vision will return in that movie. It's not clear if the character will have any role in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, however, which releases this December 18. In addition to Bettany and Spader, VisionQuest is set to feature Emily Hampshire, Diane Morgan, James D'Arcy, Orla Brady, T'Nia Miller, and Lauren Morais. Ruaridh Mollica is also going to appear in the show as Tommy Maximoff, aka Speed. Speed's introduction could help to lay the groundwork for the introduction of the Young Avengers, adding another interesting element to Vision's MCU future. Bettany is now an MCU veteran. Though it seemed many of the veterans, such as Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth, were done with the MCU, these figures are now returning to anchor Doomsday and Secret Wars. It remains to be seen how Bettany and Vision will factor into this dynamic, but it certainly sounds like VisionQuest won't be the end for this Marvel hero.
