Vikings GM Nolan Teasley on Kyle Van Noy signing: Veteran presence at a premium position

Published September 2, 2026 06:25 PM The Vikings picked up one of the top veteran free agents still on the market this week when they signed linebacker Kyle Van Noy to their practice squad. Van Noy isn’t coming off his best season, but he had 12.5 sacks for the Ravens in 2024 and he’s been a productive player in a number of different defensive schemes over the years. That includes stints playing for Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores in both New England and Miami, which is something General Manager Nolan Teasley called a “component” of why the team was interested in signing him. “Veteran presence at a premium position,” Teasley said at a press conference. “He fits well into the system because of the way that he rushes and the way that we rush. It’s really a team component from that standpoint. Then he brings, again, experience and leadership. So, really, really lucky to have a player of his caliber join us.”The Vikings were short on experience behind Dallas Turner and Andrew Van Ginkel before they moved to add Van Noy. If he can provide production to go with that experience, the move will be an early win in Teasley’s tenure.
