Vikings GM Nolan Teasley: J.J. McCarthy is practicing, expect him on Week 1 roster

McCarthy did not play in the team’s final preseason game because of an ankle injury, but it does not sound like the team expects it to impact his availability for the season opener. General Manager Nolan Teasley said at a Wednesday press conference that McCarthy, who hurt his ankle in the team’s second preseason game last month, was a full participant in practice the last two days. Teasley added that he expects McCarthy to be on the roster for the opener against the Packers, but declined to say whether he would be the backup to Kyler Murray. “I wouldn’t really necessarily comment on depth immediately, but I’m pleased that he’s part of the present version of the Minnesota Vikings and excited about his future,” Teasley said.Carson Wentz is also on the 53-man roster in Minnesota and the team could wait until they submit inactive lists before Week 1 to make their plans behind Murray clear.
