Vigilance probe not needed into DGP S. Sreejith’s foreign trip, ACS submits before Kerala High Court

IThe Keralam Home department has informed the Kerala High Court that a Vigilance probe was not needed against S. Sreejith, Director General of Police (DGP), in connection with his foreign trip for the inauguration of a private firm in his official attire. The Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) (Home and Vigilance) Minhaj Alam made the submission before the High Court on Thursday (August 20, 206), in the wake of a directive by a Bench of Justice A. Badharudeen that he had to appear in person in the court over the alleged non-compliance with its earlier directions in a complaint seeking a Vigilance probe against Mr. Sreejith. The Vigilance had concluded that the allegations in the complaint against Mr. Sreejith were ‘false and vexatious.’ Subsequently, the court had directed the then ACS to afford an independent personal hearing to the petitioner and stated that asking the complainant to participate in a hearing in the presence of the person against whom the allegations were made cannot be recognised as fair procedure. The High Court directed the present ACS to appear in person before the court, when the alleged non-compliance with its order was brought to its attention. The ACS submitted that he had complied with the court order and found that a Vigilance probe was not warranted. The court went on to close the matter. Published - August 20, 2026 09:18 pm IST
