Video: Speeding Thar crashes into Jaipur boys' hostel, two arrested

Two occupants of the vehicle allegedly tried to flee the spot but were caught by locals, who thrashed them before handing them over to the police.The incident occurred in the Mahesh Nagar area when a speeding Mahindra Thar reportedly went out of control and rammed straight into the entrance gate of a boys' hostel. The impact of the collision was so severe that the hostel's main gate was badly damaged.Fortunately, no one was standing near the entrance at the time of the crash, preventing what could have been a serious tragedy. The incident, however, created panic among hostel residents and people living nearby.According to local residents, the two men travelling in the SUV got out of the vehicle immediately after the crash and attempted to escape on foot. Locals chased them down, caught them a short distance away and allegedly assaulted them before police arrived. INCIDENT CAPTURED ON CCTV, POLICE LAUNCH PROBEThe entire sequence of events, including the vehicle crashing into the hostel and the accused attempting to flee, was captured on CCTV cameras installed outside the hostel. The footage has since surfaced and is being widely circulated on social media.On receiving information, personnel from Mahesh Nagar police station reached the spot and took both men into custody. Police later arrested them on charges of breach of peace. The Thar involved in the incident has also been seized for further investigation.Police are examining the CCTV footage and other evidence to determine the exact circumstances that led to the crash, including whether overspeeding or any other factor contributed to the incident.Further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation. Fortunately, despite the extent of damage to the hostel entrance, no injuries were reported in the incident.
