Video: People scream, run for cover as floods gush through Nepal's Trishuli Bazaar

Wednesday began like any other day for residents of Trishuli Bazaar in Nepal's Nuwakot district. No one could have imagined that the bustling market town, lined with jewellery shops, apparel stores and other businesses, would soon be reduced to a wasteland of mud and debris.A monster flash flood swept through Nepal that day, killing hundreds and devastating villages and towns in its path.Now, a video that has gone viral on social media captures the terrifying moments as the floodwaters surged towards Trishuli Bazaar, just before a wall of muddy water and debris ripped through the town, sending residents, pedestrians and motorists scrambling for safety.In the footage, people can be seen running through the streets as vehicles and motorcycles hurry to escape the advancing torrent. A school bus is also visible in the footage, with children caught amid the chaos.Within minutes, the once bustling market town suddenly transformed into a scene of devastation. In some parts of Trishuli, the destruction is stark: stretches that once had homes, buildings and bridges have been swept away, leaving behind little but rocks, thick mud and the swollen river.FOLLOW LIVE BLOG ON NEPAL FLOOD UPDATESAccording to the Red Cross, Nuwakot remains one of the worst-hit areas, with entire villages destroyed and damaged roads and bridges leaving communities cut off.Rescue teams have been working through enormous quantities of mud and debris in the worst-hit areas, using heavy machinery to search for survivors as hopes of finding those still missing fade.Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah, who visited flood-hit Nuwakot on Thursday, said the situation remained challenging."All the state agencies are operating at full capacity.
