Heavy rain in Gurugram left school buses and a nursery van stranded in deep water for hours. Several school buses and vans were caught in flooded roads, with some children forced to wait for hours before they could be reunited with their families.In one incident, a van carrying nursery students from Kendriya Vidyalaya in Sector 14 got stuck near the Sheetla Mata Temple shortly after leaving the school at around 1.30 pm. The vehicle broke down while attempting to pass through a heavily waterlogged stretch.The driver then took the children out of the van one by one and moved them to a nearby shop that was itself surrounded by rainwater. As the children saw the extent of the flooding around them, several became frightened and began crying.The driver contacted the children's parents and informed them that the vehicle had broken down, asking them to come and take their children home. However, the severe waterlogging around the temple and adjoining areas made it extremely difficult for the parents to reach the spot. According to the information available, some parents took around two-and-a-half to three hours to reach their children. SCHOOL BUSES STRANDED AS HEAVY RAIN CHOKES GURUGRAMAnother major disruption was reported around Subhash Chowk, where buses carrying students of Delhi Public School, Sector 45, were caught in heavy rain and traffic congestion. The buses were reportedly trapped in water that had risen to around four feet in places. The journey from Sector 45 to Sector 48, which normally takes only a few minutes, stretched to five to six hours for several students.The father of a Class 2 student said his daughter normally reaches home in Sector 48 by around 2 pm, but remained stranded in the school bus for several hours. He said children were left without food or water and faced difficulty accessing toilets. His own attempt to reach his daughter was also hampered by waterlogging and traffic jams.
