Veteran British actor who starred in Game of Thrones and Doctor Who dies aged 80 as tributes pour in

BELOVED actor Tom Chadbon has died aged 80. The star appeared in Doctor Who, Games of Thrones, Peep Show and James Bond movie Casino Royale during a revered TV and film career. Tributes have poured in from colleagues and fans, with Chadbon described as “warm and friendly” following his passing over the weekend. His death was announced in a post shared by Fantom Events publishing company whom he was a client of. Sign up for the TV newsletter Thank you! The post, on Monday, read: “We are sorry to hear the news that Tom Chadbon passed away last weekend. “Tom was a familiar face to many from his numerous television and film credits, including Doctor Who, James Bond and Game of Thrones. “He was always a warm and friendly man to work with and we send our condolences to his family at this sad time.” Chadbon made more than 120 screen appearances, including playing multiple characters in Doctor Who, including fan favourite Duggan. Actress Lisa Bowerman, who appeared in the BBC show alongside him, said: “Oh no… I hadn’t heard. How incredibly sad. He was wonderful.” Meanwhile, a fan wrote: “Oh I’m so sorry to hear this. RIP. 2026 has been the worst year.” Chadbon had roles in dozens of shows, including Sherlock Holmes, Midsomer Murders, The Bill, Foyle’s War and Where the Heart Is. The latter of which, he was a regular cast member. One of his final roles came as High Septon Maynard in HBO series Game of Thrones. Perhaps the highlight of his career was appearing in Daniel Craig’s debut movie as 007 – 2006’s Casino Royale. His film career also included British movie Dance with a Stranger. Comment now
