Veteran actor Sowcar Janaki, one of the most respected names in South Indian cinema, died on Friday, August 21. She was 94.According to Nadigar Sangam president Nassar, Sowcar Janaki died at 1.59 pm on Friday.In a statement, Nassar announced that the actor's body will be placed at Centaoph Road in Teynampet from 5 pm, allowing fans, friends and members of the film fraternity to pay their last respects.Sowcar Janaki had a long and celebrated career spanning several decades. She worked across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam cinema and was known for her versatile performances. The actor earned the name 'Sowcar Janaki' after her breakthrough role in the 1955 Telugu film Sowcar.
