Vellappally Natesan slams Keralam Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan’s style of functioning, urges greater political maturity

Assessing the performance of the new government, Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan on Friday remarked that Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan needs to alter his style of functioning and exhibit greater maturity. He pointed out that those who previously demanded a change in former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s demeanour now resorts to arrogant and disrespectful language, adding that Mr. Satheesan often forgets the dignity and stature associated with his position.Against OppositionLashing out at the Opposition, Mr. Natesan observed that while he was once praised by them, he has now become unpalatable to the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)]. Recalling past political dynamics, he noted that when the Sabarimala issue arose, the CPI(M) treated him with extreme importance.“Mr. Vijayan was able to secure two consecutive terms purely due to his merit. Having praised him to the skies before, they now rush to pull him down after his electoral loss,” he said.‘Too early to rate’Acknowledging internal dynamics within the Congress, Mr. Natesan said that differences of opinion and debates are natural within the party, while reiterating that it is still too early to rate the government’s performance. Shifting to administrative issues, he noted that previous governments also shared the blame for the ongoing electricity crisis, adding that projects require long-term vision to achieve self-reliance.He also pointed out that the Health Minister himself has admitted to a medicine shortage, suggesting that the Health department requires significantly greater attention. He described the recent clashes in Thiruvananthapuram as a terrifying escalation that should have been avoided. Mr. Natesan also responded to M.K. Muneer receiving Cabinet-level status, stating that there was nothing wrong with the decision since Mr. Muneer is a dignified leader. Published - October 02, 2026 07:11 pm IST
