Vehicle tax exemption limit for persons with disabilities raised to ₹15 Lakh in Keralam

The State government has raised the limit for motor vehicle tax exemption applicable to vehicles purchased by persons with disabilities from ₹7 lakh to ₹15 lakh.According to Transport Minister C.P. John, previously, the tax exemption applied to vehicles with a purchase value of up to ₹7 lakh, specifically for those purchased by individuals with conditions such as autism, cerebral palsy, intellectual disabilities, or multiple disabilities.The decision to increase the limit to ₹15 lakh had been announced in the Revised Budget speech for the 2026-27 financial year. The State government has now issued a new notification, amending the Kerala Motor Vehicles Taxation Act as part of implementing the Budget announcement, said the Minister.
