Varanasi thief rides away with Rs 4 lakh bike after coffee, shower and dance

A man broke into a bike showroom in Varanasi and spent four hours inside before stealing a Rs 4 lakh bike. The unusual theft at a Triumph automobile showroom has left both the police and showroom staff stunned.The thief spent nearly four and a half hours inside the showroom before riding away on a brand-new KTM bike worth around Rs 4.71 lakh.The showroom’s general manager, Rohit Kumar Singh, said that the staff had locked up and left for home at around 10 pm on Monday. Singh’s three-month-old KTM bike, with its key, was parked inside the showroom. Around 11.30 pm, a young man wearing a white shirt and jeans arrived outside the showroom. When it began raining, he tore down a banner outside and used it as a cover before pulling out a cutter and starting to work on the glass door.It took him around 36 minutes to cut through the glass. At 12.06 am, he finally managed to get inside. But instead of immediately looking for valuables, the man was remarkably comfortable.He switched on the computer at the reception desk and spent some time spinning around in the revolving chair. He then took cold water from the refrigerator before making himself a cup of hot coffee.His next stop was the showroom washroom, where he took a shower. After that, he spread his wet clothes over a motorcycle to dry.The bizarre episode continued when the man tore open a new motorcycle cover and wrapped it around himself like a lungi. He then played music on the computer and danced inside the showroom for some time.Before leaving, he changed into a branded showroom T-shirt and cap and finally turned his attention to the motorcycle he had come for.At around 4 am, he started the manager’s KTM and rode away.The theft came to light the following morning when the security guard noticed the shattered glass and alerted the manager. CCTV footage captured the entire sequence.Police and a forensic team reached the showroom and began investigating.
